Hello peeps

Post by simonm » Tue May 10, 2016 6:14 pm

Hi guys, as a long time reader/lurker, thought it was about time I joined the party.
Brill to see so much enthusiasm for the old Acorn micros; very much a theme of my youth - had a beeb and A5000 back in the day, and learning 6502/ARM code got me a job as a software dev so all that time hacking protected games turned out to be a useful life skill after all!
More of a manager these days, so thinking about revisiting my old hobbies :)
Been noodling with some 6502 beeb asm/swift/beeb em, and keen to see if I can remember any of the old tricks.
Great also to see new content getting made - that new frogger game is a fine piece of craft!

Anyways, see you all in the topics.
Cheers
Simon

Welcome and thanks, don't forget to try AstroBlaster (best with a speech chip and/or sideways RAM) and Carnival if you like the old arcade games, plus all the original stuff of course ;)

Heh! :)
I wrote a gouraud triangle shader on the arc back in the 90's (Inspired by zarch and doom and all that) and it wasn't too bad performance wise. Think I got quite far with a 3d tetris game using it. All that fixed point integer 3d math tho...! Mind you, it helped me get a job working on games for the playstation 1 though, so not a bad time investment. :)
I plan to dig out my old archimedes at some point this year, and see if anything is still readable on it.

Cheers
Simon

Welcome on board Simon!

:D :D :D

Put yourself on the map by sticking a pin in it at this link :P
You can make your confession here
You can list your Acorn machines vitals here :D

If you need help, or indeed have any questions, feel free to ask.

You need 25 or more posts before PMs are enabled. Or if you have a good reason, you can contact an admin ask nicely if they can enable PMs for you.
