No games here

Post by peepshow »

Hello all.
Had my beeb since they first came out and haven't yet changed the caps! Naughty me.
Have always considered this machine was worthyof more than playing games. Over the years have used it
for other purposes. At present working on..... I have 3 magnetometers set up N/S, E/W and vertical to
measure changes in Earth's magnetic field.
Input to beeb via ADVAL port and plotted on screen left/right, up/down and vertical component is length of
moving vertical line. Hope it works! :)
BTW, I'm probably the oldest on this forum! Any one beat 88? :)

Welcome! Can you detect the meandering of the magnetic pole with that setup?

I think you might well be the oldest - there's a thread for that:
What is the average age on here??

Although with that thread itself being 8 years old, it's a bit of a moving target.

Edit: oh, hang on, you posted there 5 years ago!

No I can't, but I do have a separate torsion magnetometer that does.
I'd forgotten that I posted on age thread. Must be my old age.

Thanks for the welcome guys. My beeb thanks too........... It went dah dee. (Thank you) :)

Hi peepshow and welcome!

That's interesting what your doing with your beeb. Maybe you can post some screen plots at some stage.

Sounds interesting, there is a nice i2c (is that right?) Project that lets you connect many devices to the digital parts of the analogue port.

Hi peepshow and welcome!
.......... Maybe you can post some screen plots at some stage.
It will be rather boring to see as a photo. All one will see on screen is a vertical line
whose position on screen and length is dependent on 3 ADVAL inputs.

It's a short program and as the beeb samples the ADVAL every 2 minutes there is no need
for any call to assembler required. The 3 values are recorded to disk, 24/7.
Not sure how my beeb will run continuously though, but I have bought a spare. :)

When played back at speed I should see a fast moving vert line of varying length.
