Afternoon from North Dorset.

Post by tarcus69 » Sat Oct 17, 2020 5:32 pm

Hello all, I just started working on an A3000 and also have some BBC Masters and BBC B micros hanging around. The A3000 first as it's the one I used most recently (it was my fourth Microcomputer back in the day). Here's a link to a photo album with some info on the A3000 as I fix it.

I also use Tynemouth Software's USB keyboard interfaces on some machines, e.g. I have an old Acorn Electron acting as a USB interface to a Raspberry Pi in one room to act as a quick terminal into a remote desktop session to my virtual desktop machine, and a C64 doing the same in the kitchen. The A3000 and the BBC Masters will be running native though, ideally econetted, all three masters have econet boards and I believe these fit the A3000 too so I'll investigate setting up the A3000 as a fileserver at some point. It has an IDE interface in it already.

The very tip of North Dorset, the Gillingham and Mere area, there's a stone about half a mile from my house, if you walk around it you go through Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire!

And yourself? Do you know any retro computer meets? I miss the old computer clubs although even pre-pandemic I don't think they are around any more. There was a retro games club for a while in Frome but by "retro" they meant "Playstation 1".
