Hello World

Post by MJS » Sat Aug 01, 2020 12:56 pm

Hi All,

I first used Acorns at School in the mid 80s. We also had a computer lab of networked Electrons running from an RM380z file and print server. It was all housed in a room that was formerly taught in by Nobel Laureate William Golding. If anyone else remembers the set up at BWS in Salisbury I'd be keen to know who else was there.

Anyway, most of the time these days I work in Audio and Broadcast TV so have seen the BBC Micro in use for years and always hankered after one. I see they're not going for as much as I thought on eBay so I'm about to dive into restoring one, or a few. I have absolutely no fear of recapping power supplies and fixing PCBs - if anyone knows me from the PinkFishMedia audio forum you'll know I used to do this for a living. I also love making things and building radio projects, I'm a fully-licensed radio amateur too.

I look forward to diving head-first back into my college days and seeing what I can do with these machines.

I toyed with the idea of refurbishing them and selling on, but I think I need to get one for myself first.
