Hello and thanks!

Post by Donkeywings » Fri Oct 12, 2018 7:52 am

Just wanted to say thank you to those involved with the bbcmicro project.
It’s 35 years since I owned a BBC Model B. Following the Commodore Pet, the first computer I ever saw, the BBC Model A, then B, was what got me into the IT industry, where I still am today.
It’s funny, it took me about an hour before it suddenly dawned on me why this was called star dot :-)
I played Yellow River Kingdom today, by loading each of the prior programs on the Welcom tape, in turn until I got to it. There was a hacked version going round my school, where the “thieves” were “Fatties” and “press the space bar” became “press the turkey leg”. Then just went back to look at the memories that came flooding back. The music on Dare Devil Dennis. The phazed in screens on Ghouls, the speech on Citadel. Memories from a different lifetime :-)
Anyway, just rambling. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. Took me longer than an hour when I returned, so I don’t think that is bad.

Welcome, glad you have found both our current sites.
If you are wondering what you have missed this millennium, there are also our old sites: www.retrosoftware.co.uk and www.stairwaytohell.com where the "MMC" software archive and these forums came from.
The versions of most of the software on bbcmicro.co.uk originally came from the Something special for this year! thread.
