Hi from Finland

Post by akumpu » Wed Oct 10, 2018 5:20 pm

I'm Ari and I purchased my first Acorn A3020 couple of months ago from eBay.
When I was a kid I read a local computer magazine "MikroBitti" (if I remember correctly), which has an article on Archimedes.
It had a picture of David Braben and he was sitting in front of Archimedes which has Zarch up-and-running :D
Then I dreamed that hopefully I would own such a machine sometime in the future.
And now finally, about twenty-five years later, I have it :D

The other computers around me are:
- Sinclair Spectrum 48kB (my first one, I got it in the 80's)
- Sinclair Spectrum 16kB, needs a new power connector and a keyboard membrane
- Commodore C64 + 1541 + cassette deck +Ultimate 1541 II+
- Commodore plus 4 + cassette deck
- Spectravideo SVI738 X'press MSX + megaram mapper module
- Philips VG-8235 MSX2, which has a mysterious PSU bug in it, still working on it.
- Amstrad CPC6128
- Amstrad CPC6128+ + C4CPC
- Atari 800XL + SIO2PC cable
- Amiga A1200 + a huge amount of Fast RAM + SD card in it

- external gotek usb-drive
and finally
- My A3020 + AEH79 + 50MB HD (which is far too small, I'm going to swap it to CF reader)

My interest has always been targeted to low level, i.e. assembly language and HW..
I learned to program Z80 assembly sometime in the 80's
For the most of my time I made small intros/demos.
Cracking games, doing trainers etc..
eh.. that's it, all in the nutshell

Hope I'll get good discussion and advice on the forums

Welcome to the forum.

only stopped using Amiga's as my primary machine in mid 2000's so I still think of them as a recent machine :) I will have to get one again in another 12 years.

I have not found yet, thanks for the tip.
BBC Master is interesting machine.
Actually I fought for one BBC master in eBay, but I was too slow to bid, so I didn't get it.
But one day I will have one :)

I'm from Oulu area which is located in northern Finland.
Not many Acorns here, I guess..
But Amiga users are pretty active in here, BTW.

The master is interesting and allows Double buffering the screen. The B and B+ support the sound chip and the master compact is very, well, compact ;) the atom and electron have their own charms.
