Hi!!

Post by Barnabas » Wed Jul 18, 2018 7:35 pm

Probably a familiar story on here, but my first computer in the mid 80s was an Electron which, I think, was sold to my parents on merit of the "educational" factor... I got a huge amount of mileage out of it, including getting a Plus 1, before moving onto the Amiga in the early 90s.

Over the past few years I've discovered some of the innovative new hardware and software being produced for classic systems and now have several Amigas, a C64, Megadrive and PS2 all with various solutions tacked onto them with SD cards and the like, full of software old and new... all good fun!! But recently I decided to return to my roots and get an Acorn machine, this time going for the Master which I was always intrigued by, having seen at school but never really getting much time in lessons to investigate properly.

I'm now the proud owner of what was a fairly sorry looking Master purchased off ebay which has been cleaned up, battery changed, PSU re-capped (Meanwell replacement on the way for the long term), OS switcher, turbo MMC and Gotek installed, and I've only had the thing a couple of weeks!

Really impressed by the depth of knowledge and commitment on this board and I just wanted to say thanks for all the useful info I've already garnered from here :D It's much appreciated...

Cheers all,

Mike

Welcome! :D

Time to get another Electron, I think! It won't take up too much space compared to the Master. ;)

Welcome.

I agree wit davidb, get another Electron!. Having been an Electron owner in the distant past as well, I get more satisfaction hanging of all sorts of stuff that I couldn't afford or dream of back in the day, than I get from the Beebs and Masters in my colelction (even thought thye have just as much shiny stuff hanging off them and can generally do more).

Welcome, glad you've joined us.
Have you tried prince of Persia yet, or any of the other homebrew on bbcmicro.co.UK that doesn't come on the mmc?
