The error has been corrected now. Unfortunately, I think the seller might have had more success if he left the picture of the house.

I think you've missed the point with the first photo. The bottom right shows the exact piece of pavement where he found it.

Just out of shot there's a dog still eating the first 14 pages and cover.

Yes, I saw that. I presumed that a light came on on the A3000 and the ring main fuse did not blow.

Erm...

Apparently it is tested and fully working. Given the inability to read the case I would take that with a pinch of salt.

And nice flip flops!

That's the original thread for this... At one point it was up for £2999 as well. £999 is still a silly price based on the fact that the arbitration hardware that is on a separate back plane is missing. The Hydra board in that state is pretty much a curiosity that you could frame but it wouldn't ever work in a machine in that condition...

Interesting how this eBayer has photographed his/her collection of discs but with all the contents covered. The discs will probably be what will interest bidders!

Commodore 64 at £400 in the last hour of bidding. 'Appears unused': https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Commodore-64 ... SwDqlar9dF

s-l1600[1].jpg
Pfffft!
Yeah, cos you cleaned it, probably retrobrited as well and slung it in a bag. I've heard stories of people taking the plug off, even though computers came with plugs fitted by then. Still, one born every minute. :(
It's highly likely that it was bought new with good intentions, never used then placed into the loft with everything else (there was a lot of stuff in that loft.) There are no storage marks on the computer itself, the keys and rubber feet show no wear and the whole thing looks like new (even the power supply had no plug in place yet.) The cables and joystick have been stored in plastic bags and they too are in excellent condition.

Humm...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cassette-DAT ... 2002990346

From the description: "They don't make cassette recorders any more but we found this player that will load data tapes into a BBC Microcomputer..."

So why's this cassette recorder available online and in stock at my local Argos store (for almost half the price of the above)?

@steve3000

Or go to http://www.amazon.co.uk and get a Groov-e Retro Series Shoebox Cassette Player and Recorder with Ear, Mic and REM sockets for £24.99

I know which of the two I'd rather have by the side of my Beeb ... and it's definitely NOT the 4d-pi-Shop one from fleabay.

:D Exactly!

I started looking as my Acorn data recorder is not behaving at the moment, so I don't want to be left unable to use my cassette collection... but seems like there are at least a coupe of modern recorders available off the shelf with the right connections :)

are those not the cheap rubbish ones from Lidl / Aldi , I think they where £9 brand new about a year ago
if anything, use a Sony walkman with heads worth more than £9

even the USB decks are £20ish, but, my needles on my Technics SL1200s are £25+ just for the needle,
so the stylus must be made of metal shavings and the 'ripping' is not from vinyl to file, but your vinyl in bin after one play!! [-(

The computer end of the lead is a five pin plug so should be compatible with any of the 1980's home computers that had a three, five or seven pin DIN socket.
A 5-pin DIN plug "should" fit a 3-pin DIN socket? Really now?

You just need a bigger hammer.

That depends if it's actually a 5 hole shroud with only 3 pins populated because 5 pin plugs and sockets are more common. The monitor connector on the Dragon 32/64 is like that.

Cheers.

Presumably this is the computing equivalent of that Simpsons episode when Homer put "speed holes" in his car. I give you cooling holes, Beeb-style:
