What I want to know is...

Post by sweh » Fri Feb 28, 2020 1:49 am

What I want to know is... when I'm half drunk, half the time the opening theme to Castle Quest starts playing through my head. WTF, I didn't even really like that game!

( The other half it's the "Vision On" Burbles theme - https://youtu.be/WDZLtDCJUsg?t=190 - it took me over a decade to work that out! )

Maybe it's the game's revenge on me breaking the tape protection (IIRC it was the same format as normal BBC tapes but with 128byte blocks instead of 256bytes, so the code in the AUG was easy to modify).

Ah Vision On. What an ear worm!

Of course the simple solution is not to get ‘half’ drunk and do it properly. :D

You could maybe listen to The Curious Cases of Rutherford & Fry, Series 7 - The Sticky Song
Why do songs get stuck in our heads? And what makes some tunes stickier than others? Drs Rutherford and Fry investigate 'earworms', those musical refrains that infect our brains for days.

Personally, I find the only 'cure' is to replace one earworm with another. It's not really a solution but it does prevent me getting bored with a particular song!
