Thanks all for their kind thoughts and sentiments and prayers.

Alison has been put to rest now in the manner that she wished. I'll be eternally grateful having her for a wife for 42 years on this earthly plane as my life would not even be close to what it is without her.

I've never looked forward to when my time comes before but now I have a burning reason and desire to get there...... don't panic folks, I'm not the suicide type. That's God's work, not mine.

In the meantime, I hope to make her proud of everything I do and try to be a beacon of hope for people if possible in these tough times.

She was more special than most people know. I was the anchor that held her back in many ways. We get what we need in marriage in order to grow certain ways and I think we were a good couple that way.

Until we meet again Alison,

Your loving husband,

Ed

All the best, Ed.

I think doing as you are doing - counting the blessings you had - 42 years - is a better approach than dwelling on what you've lost.

Celebrate the life and the person and the good times you had.

Doesn't feel like there's much useful we can do to help, but we're here.

Take care,
Richard.

And that is the point of support. I know the sincerety of people's wishes and I more than ever am grateful. My wife wants me to work from that plane of greatfulness than the other way around.

Thanks so much for your kind words Richard. I count you among my friends though we've only met on these forums.
