If anyone's interested ARDText are asking for submissions for a gallery to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death.

https://twitter.com/ARDText/status/1101095478299688962

The message I got was that they want teletext renditions of the Mona Lisa.

Beautiful pics Pixel =D>

I think there may be a slight bug in the flashing / cycling colour line routines, hoping to find time to look at the code one of these days :-k

Trying this out 🙂 sorry it’s a little large but it’s the first go......how cool is this!

I will delete this later as it’s 1mb...but it is interesting you can turn mode 2 into 3D.......
The next one to try is teletext :)

I won't post any more now or I will fill up Stardot!
It really is amazing to see BBC pics in 3d. It's like suddenly being transported into the future from 1986!

That's a nifty trick you've got there.

Would there be any mileage in just making a (vertical) portion of the screen wobble back and forth, to give the impression of heat haze in a desert?

Vertical doesn't look very good.......
I have big plans for this!

Here is a teletext 3d. I knew this would be be best format as it is so flat. How amazing is this!

Sorry, I didn't explain very clearly.

Instead of making every row on the screen wobble horizontally, making just some rows (i.e the lower part of the sky) wobble horizontally.

Something vaguely like:

Code: Select all

Even with level 2.5 enhancements I can't make a teletext page do that... not without a big magnet anyway.

Can you do MODE7 Sprites?

This inspires me to come up with this fake game blurb:
"Nectar Too, is a simplistic game, but its moderately playable. You are a bee searching for Nectar, but watch out because you have to time your descent speed and direction carefully, a miscalculation and you'll plummet into the ground. Noatable for using Mode 7."
( I sort of had a 'Lunar Lander' type game in my mind.)

"Coming soon to a BBC Micro near you, A different sort of adventure game. Sound out the depths as Dolphin tries to find his way home..."

There was in the 1990's a game called "Ecco The Dolphin", would a version of something like it work on the BBC micro as a different sort of arcade adventure game?
