Seeking 290 programs for Sinclair Cambridge Programmable

Post by BigEd » Mon Feb 04, 2019 2:55 pm

It's possible someone here has the four-volume Program Library for Sinclair's Cambridge Programmable calculator... I'm particularly interested in the Lunar Lander program. (With only 36 program steps, it must have been pretty tightly coded.)

It seems that the manual which came with the calculator, and the 10 page sample booklet of the program library, are not quite what I'm after. I've looked for the full thing online and not (yet) found it.

Volume 1 contains the games, apparently.

Just to note, it's the Sinclair Cambridge Programmable with 36 steps that I'm interested in here, not the earlier and larger Sinclair Scientific Programmable with only 24 steps (and no branch or loop). That machine's "program library" can be found here.

There's a functional JavaScript emulator of the Cambridge Programmable here - it's not an accurate simulator but shows the usability(!) and programmability.

(The earliest advert I find for the Scientific Programmable is 18 Sep 1975 in New Scientist, for £29.95 inclusive. For the Cambridge Programmable it's 12 May 1977 again in New Scientist, for only £17.23 inclusive.)

Oh, it would be great if you could attach a photo of the moon lander pages!

Thanks to a tip-off from Dave/@hoglet, I am now a proud owner of the four volume boxed set: retail price £4.95 in 1977.

And so we get a chance to see the two Moon Lander programs, each in 36 steps on a calculator with just a single memory. The first program is a de-orbit burn and the second is the landing.

If anyone has a great interest in any other of the included programs, let me know. Here are the contents pages:

Oh look, someone else bought a copy, and scanned and uploaded it:

It's a Dave B - thanks Dave B - but not the Dave B you might be thinking of.
