Stupid question - where to get disk images

Post by dominicbeesley » Thu Mar 26, 2015 10:13 am

Hello all,

It's been a while since I downloaded a lot of SSD's but I'm now testing my FPGA bbc micro and it seems STH is not working - whenever I click on a link to the archive it pauses for ages and I get a blank page.

Is there another up-to-date archive that works? If hosting STH is a problem is donating some money / server space feasible?

D

Sites you could try for games and ROMs are;

emuparadise

doperoms

These sites generally have copies of the STH archives. Also there is the 8BS archive and last but not least this very forum. Just do a search.

Good luck. :D

Why do I keep collecting Acorn gear? I'm going to need a considerably bigger man-cave. :?

See this thread for details of the recent STH unavailability.

But you were saying, FPGA BBC Micro?! :o

As well as the sites John suggested, you could also try here:

The STH site (less php functionality) is now back online.

Thanks everyone for all the links - hopefully have a play tonight!

It's a learning project for me - I took Mike Stirling's DE1 FPGA project and ported it to the DE0 nano. At first I did it to test out my idea of being able to generate HDMI signals direct from a FPGA...then it got out of hand!

There's some back story here:

http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewto ... pga#p81509

I've now moved away from HDMI for the meantime and just outputting plain old RGB video. I'll move back to looking at HDMI some time in the near future but I've run into the problem that there are very few monitors that accept refresh rates < 56Hz, certainly none of mine do, so my original plan of just doubling up every line is out of the window for now...

I've managed to fix the T65 implementation I think and also fixed a few glitches in Mike's stuff, as well as introduced a load of my own. I finally got round to implementing the video ULA and mc6854 last week and so now it is in a state where I can play some games.

There are a few issues which I'll sort out soon, like no sound, scrolling is a bit dodgy in any modes other than 0,2,5 and the picture is quite flickery in Mode 7 with interlace on or off.

However, it is good enough for a few games...but still not Snapper yet!

I'd be interested in what T65 fixes you made, as AtomFPGA uses this as well:

Have you tried running the DORMANN tests?

You might also want to take a look at AlanD's 65C02 core which he used in some of his Master FPGA designs:

Thanks for those links Dave,

I've attached a zip of my fixed(bodged) t65 - it's a while ago but I was having problems with IRQs getting stuck on. It seems that one of the bits of the flags was ending up setting the I flag during an RTI (or something like that) and i masked it out...

I'll have a look at those other cores..

I managed to get a few more games working:
= hopper - worked fine
= arcadians - ok, blue/yellow flashing problem on some colours after a while - suspect ULA glitch
= starship comment - worked fine
= meteors - worked fine

Then the baby work up...
