Unbelievable! There's been THREE separate signups from spambots today! Of course, each user account was instantly banned, but I'm beginning to get real pissed off now!

Does phpBB not support those type in number thingies where the value as a graphic is distorted. Guess not, might have helped cut these down if they become more annoying.

phpBB does support CAPTCHA but only from version 2.0.11.

No problem - I'm not sure what version this site is running though so don't know if it supports CAPTCHA. Whilst stopping spambots, it's downside is that it makes the forum "less accessible" for e.g. partially sighted users (screen readers just can't do anything with it for obvious reasons). Not sure if that's an issue for the demographic here? Typically, where it's used with big websites (like Yahoo), they have a supporting call centre behind it where people who can't read the image can call and get registered.

I must have ticked the "Delete image" option when updating my forum browsing options in my profile - thanks for pointing that, I hadn't actually noticed. Melchett avatar is now restored in all his splendour.

I don't actually look anything like him btw, just a friend used to have a cat called melchett and I always found Stephen Fry brilliant in that role. Not sure why I'm justifying that...

Going off topic here but I did prefer the BlackAdder II role than General Melchett in IV. Both good but same as you, very good in that earlier role.

It is a thread about spam after all :D

Blackadder II was definitely one of his finest moments, before he started hosting QI in recent years. Did a damn fine job in Jeeves and Wooster too...

I liked Jeeves and Wooster, but I don't think many people did, my missus won't let me watch it when it's on Sky :( Never watched QI. Blackadder II was my favourite of all those series, followed by IV. Not sure about III, was OK. And I like series one too but I don't think you can compare it with the later series as it was basically too different. If I remember BA II was lucky to get commisioned after the cost of BA I and the not too massive ratings.

Hope you're not too interested in Flossy like your namesake
