Repton 3 - 8BS Agony and Pain screens

Post by Kecske Bak » Tue Oct 05, 2010 3:49 am

On The Kraken's YouTube channel SentinelProxima, there are now some playthroughs of two excellent sets of PD Repton 3 screens.

One set is called Agony, the other set is called Pain. You can see the maps here:

http://www.8bs.com/submit/subreptonmaps.htm

Does anyone know who actually created these screens? There is a clue - the first screen of one set is based around the initials "RH":

These screens are so good it would be lovely to know who created them.

Screen A of the other set also contains the initials "RH" -- much smaller and written in diamonds.

On the 8-bit Software website Dave linked to, the URLs for these maps take this form:
http://www.8bs.com/submit/reptons/pd/rhead1/a.png

Note the "rhead" part. Could R. Head be the designer's name? If so, the person who created the webpage might know more about him. I think I'm correct in saying that the creator of the page is the same as YouTube user "cjr8bs", who has posted videos that are slideshows of these level maps, and is the designer of the sets "Topd", "Topd2" and "Topd3".

Well done Mr Repton, you've solved it! :)

From http://www.8bs.com/new.htm:

15/08/2004 Thanks to Richard Head for updating his Repton screens. They are now all full sets of screens. Excellent puzzles, they are well worth a look. See TBI-45 in the downloads section

04/08/2004 Thanks to Richard Head for a new addition to the Repton screens. He has submitted 2 sets (one finished and one partially finished). See TBI-45. I have turned this catalogue entry into two single sided discs, both in the same zipped download. I have added the maps and passwords to the relevant pages on the website too

This is actually quite recent. Who could you ask to get contact details for Mr. Head - would the web-master of 8BS know?
