Does anyone remember this adventure game?

Post by kyndigs » Sun Jan 13, 2019 4:04 am

I am new here, I am glad I found this place after years of hunting and reddit posts looking for a game, if anyone knows the answer it has to be here!

Back in the school days we had a BBC Micro, we had a few games but one I remember more was a text adventure that may have also displayed some graphics in the locations, I want to say written on the 5in disk was Dragon something but I can't be sure, I do remember some of the game play though.

When you get to one location there is a barrier you have either a horn or a bell, and you 'BLOW HORN' and the barrier vanishes, I never got to go much further than this as time was always limited on the computer and always wanted to finish the game.

Thanks

Maybe a trawl through http://flaxcottage.com/Educational/Default.asp will find it?

Dragon World (http://flaxcottage.com/Educational/Show ... .asp?p=351) is a candidate. I've not played this one myself but it's from 4mation who were a big publisher of educational games that were time-shared around classrooms.

Could it be "Dread Dragon Droom"?

Welcome,
Sorry, don't think I can help with the adventure, but you can also take a look around bbcmicro.co.UK a sister site with a a great archive or the older stairway to hell.

I only remembered yesterday that either philosophers quest or Sphinx adventure have a dragon (or maybe a Sphinx)

I fired that up and unfortunately it's not, it is kind of a similar style though, I don't really remember it being so educational or maybe it was deceptively educating me.

Yep, I checked them all, the closest thing is Blue Dragon, that's why I am unsure if the title even had Dragon or the game was mislabeled on the disk.

I looked through all adventure games on bbcmicro.co.uk, and tried a few, the closest thing to the style and look is Kings Ransom http://bbcmicro.co.uk/game.php?id=1971

That looks like a Graphic Adventure Creator title.
Looking at the wiki, there was anothing title made using GAC called 'Dragons Tooth'

So many projects, so little time...

CASA only has 4: https://www.solutionarchive.com/list/pl ... %2Cdragon/
  • Blue Dragon
  • Dragon Adventure
  • Dragon Quest
  • Dragon's Tooth

You have to blow a horn in Level 9's Saga of Erik the Viking and there's also a dragon in it.

But I bet it's Dragon Adventure by William Stott, which I've never played but it ticks all the boxes: there's a dragon in the title, BLOW HORN is in the solution and it's for children. Unfortunately it's missing from the archive and the screenshot on CASA is the Archimedes version.
