Re: A3020 with components dropping off...

I had to put it on hold for a little bit... annoyingly after I had got the components and tools.

But I will be going ahead with the repair and will do a parts list and possibly also a video in the next two months or so...

Cheers,

Paul.

Been absent from the forum for a little bit as I'd taken on a rather large project.

Is there anyone that could run off a 2-3 of these wizzo Roms, if I cross your palms with silver? It would be greatly appreciated! :D

An, thanks for this. That would explain why my turtle wasn't being driven by logo... It needed the drivers!

Can't wait to test it! :)

It doesn't even need an mmc or data centre because it has a tape player. And a deal at only £300. P&P extra of course.

Re: Worth Taking a Look At

Could you explain ? A company bought the rights to use the Acorn brand and logo ? Who sold that ? It's been auctioned or ? See the Wikipedia page for details. A super shiny screen, indeed! Sorry for the delayed reply. That Wikipedia page seemed to have it well. They simply licensed the brand ...

Re: RISC OS (+ABug!) London Show / Sat 24th Oct 2015

PRISMA 3 hardware on show as used by the BBC for the National Lottery and other programmes back in the day. Sadly the demo on display didn't show off the hardware at it's best. Yes, sorry we couldn't do much better than this. We were very short on time and didn't have any other programs to look at ...

Re: GBS-8200 not working on A4000

Very fair points Zarchos. That sentence is a bit like an 'excuse' for the price. If only they added HDMI, included the other cables, a nice glossy manual, an impressive blue LED and YouTube setup videos for each Acorn machines, then that would be better  These, particularly the box, is the rea...

Re: GBS-8200 not working on A4000

I bought one of those from 4D on ebay. The trouble is (I suppose) a UK company needs to research solutions and provide support. In this case, CJE have (I assume?) tested the boxes extensively with all acorn machines and will provide support on their boxes, whereas its I seem to rarely get decent tec...

Re: A410/1 with IDE on ebay...

Subject to more testing, my brother and I appear to have gotten to the bottom of the CF issue. We swapped podule cards in the A440/1 and our broken directories, data aborts and other issues dissappeared. The CF card and CF reader were the same. I'll list the makes / models of the two podule used. Wh...

Hats on Cats...?

Hi Everyone. A long while ago, far back in the 80's, my Brother, Dad and I enjoyed playing games on the BBC Micro on a Friday when Mum went out shopping (she didn't like all the wires!). Out came the trolly, and whilst listening to my Dads music on his GL75 record player, we played gamed such as Sna...

Re: A3000 Connection!

Ok, at long last, we've got our kit running (actually, we did it last week, so sorry for the delay!) It's a rather clever little box ( / board) and works perfectly with our Archimedes. As part of our work (playing?) with the Prisma 3 system, I'd made up a 15pin VGA to 4 BNC Connector system (R,G,B,S...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Hi everyone following this thread! As part of our trawling through the Millipede Prisma 3, we've been directed several times to the Prisma's Graphics Processor, the Hitachi HD63484 ACRTC. So here is the datasheet for the chip. We're driving the kit from an Archimedes A440/1, RO3.10 / Arm 3. Anyone w...

We're running into a bit of a challenge, the Prisma 3 seems to be plotting our graphics nicely, but we can't seem to get our head around (so far): 1. The Palette - these all seem to be the same colour. We've written to the screen with a selection of colours, changed the palette and repeated - all th...

Ah, I should note that the ROM I have is for the Archimedes and is on a Podule, so not for the BBC i'm afraid. The BBC used these on BBC Micros and Archimedes (the rackmount case has two ribbon connectors, one for each machine).

We got the system set up, but unfortunatley, the keyboard I brought in today has a faulty plug. I've got a replacement plug and another keyboard to reference the pins out, so lunchtime tomorrow I'll be soldering - and then hopefully I'll be able to reply! Sorry for the delay :D

No Problem! :D It did take a long time to run through the scanner, releasing one page at a time. And even had to do the last 29 pages 4 times as a few of the pages were a bit unreliable in the scanner (a bit tacky with age) and the software doesn't save what's been scanned when there's a jam!...
