A410/1 with IDE on ebay...

HI all. Just wondered if anyone is bidding on this A410/1 as part of an IDE resurrection re-manufacture? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acorn-Archimedes-A410-1-ARM3-4MB-2GB-CF-HD-Econet-/351546525539?nav=SEARCH I was bidding as I'm keen on the IDE / CF system as it's got 4 500mb partitions and I can't get ...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Thanks Ian,

I've just ordered John Kortink's internal ReCo6502Mini for the Master. I'll update the thread when it comes.

Cheers,

Paul.

Re: A3000 Connection!

Ok, at long last, we've got our kit running (actually, we did it last week, so sorry for the delay!) It's a rather clever little box ( / board) and works perfectly with our Archimedes. As part of our work (playing?) with the Prisma 3 system, I'd made up a 15pin VGA to 4 BNC Connector system (R,G,B,S...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Hi everyone following this thread! As part of our trawling through the Millipede Prisma 3, we've been directed several times to the Prisma's Graphics Processor, the Hitachi HD63484 ACRTC. So here is the datasheet for the chip. We're driving the kit from an Archimedes A440/1, RO3.10 / Arm 3. Anyone w...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Thanks Ian, It would be excellent to have a play with the software and get a better idea of what the kit can do, if you get a chance to put a CF card image together! Re: 6502 CoPro, I'm afraid I don't know too much about that side of things - and have so far not found a 'need' to buy one of the 6502...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

We're running into a bit of a challenge, the Prisma 3 seems to be plotting our graphics nicely, but we can't seem to get our head around (so far): 1. The Palette - these all seem to be the same colour. We've written to the screen with a selection of colours, changed the palette and repeated - all th...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Well, we've got the kit running, after a bit of fun with palettes and BNC crimping...! Does anyone here have the Archimedes manual for the Prisma 3? Ian, I've got the BBC Master, the DataCentre, even a Marconi User Port trackerball, but sadly no 6502 Co-Pro :( I can't even imagine dragging around a ...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Thats brilliant Ian, do you think you'd be able to share a couple of those programs? I'd love to get that running on our kit. Was it all the software you wrote on the BBC, or were there some on the Archie? We're going to try and get a BBC Globe running on ours - my brother (Michael) has written some...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

Ah, I should note that the ROM I have is for the Archimedes and is on a Podule, so not for the BBC i'm afraid. The BBC used these on BBC Micros and Archimedes (the rackmount case has two ribbon connectors, one for each machine).

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

I remember that music video Ian! Do you have (would be willing to share) anything interesting to run on it? We got it without any software, so are busy writing little scripts for it! Were all the graphics drawn at the same time, or was the video split into layers -e.g background layer, video overlay...

Re: A3000 Connection!

We got the system set up, but unfortunatley, the keyboard I brought in today has a faulty plug. I've got a replacement plug and another keyboard to reference the pins out, so lunchtime tomorrow I'll be soldering - and then hopefully I'll be able to reply! Sorry for the delay :D

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

No Problem! :D It did take a long time to run through the scanner, releasing one page at a time. And even had to do the last 29 pages 4 times as a few of the pages were a bit unreliable in the scanner (a bit tacky with age) and the software doesn't save what's been scanned when there's a jam!...

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

No one seems to have objected, so here's the manual for the Prisma 3 by Millipede Electronic Graphics for those with the hardware. This version is 0.1 Published in August 1987.

Enjoy!

Re: PRISMA 3 Manual.

And for reference, here is the Prisma 3 on the Chris's Acorns.

Although mine looks a bit different to that one as the BBC re-housed it for rack-mount purposes.

PRISMA 3 Manual.

Hello Everyone. I'm preparing for the upcoming RISC OS London show with my BBC Micro "CLEF" Synthesiser (and possibly the Hybrid system if space allows). As such, I've been rummaging around in the storage container and found out my ex-BBC Prisma / Archi broadcast graphics kit. It has a copy of the P...

But I fancied running it...

Ok, I've now got a list of replacement SMD Caps for the A3020, ordered my hot air station, and will keep you updated with progress (and parts list). Might even be a few photos or video of the repair work. Thanks to everyone that's helped so far. Hopefully this will be useful for preserving Arcs. It'...

Re: A3020 with components dropping off...

Yeah, will do. I'm going to replace all the surface mounts so will do a list and photos. I'm thinking this could be a can of worms like the battery issue.. I had one fall off a spare A7000 mobo a few years back too, but I think that was due to a physical clash with a cdrom / backplane mounting tray....

Thanks for the replies and suggestions! I tried to attach photos yesterday but couldn't as they were too big. I've now since downloaded a resizer =D> and so here they are. A3020 with components dropping off...

Hi all. I've just got an A3020 off eBay. Doing the usual battery replacement, I've come across another problem and wondered if anyone else had the same. With literally no other battery damage , two surface mount caps fell off (on the sound circuitry). Why did this happen? Do they leak and rot? Cheer...

It would be brilliant to get an archive of all Music 500 / 5000 music together... I'm qu...
