Re: Atom mystery photos

The handmade board is indeed the video RAM, I remember it because I checked the Atom before shipping. The main reason that the video RAM is not on the combikaart is that both the 6502 and 6847 need access to it. That's why we never put video RAM on a ram/rom/memoryboard. The combi-kaart provides 32k...

Re: Atomulator on Raspberry Pi

I still haven't found out how to speed up the Atomulator. But Snapper is quite playable. I can't imagine a 700Mhz ARM cpu being slower than a 1MHz 6502...

However, the AtomMMC emulation is working perfectly and I did win a game of four in a row 8)

Re: Atomulator on Raspberry Pi

Hi Dave,

Speed is still a bit too slow for playing Repton. I don't know if it's possible to speed up the cpu emulation. I have to read documentation or source for that to find out. Or maybe somebody here knows....

Atomulator on Raspberry Pi

Hi, I have found a very easy way to compile Atomulator on the Raspberry Pi. To compile it you need three libraries: Allegro Alut OpenAL I couldn't find those in the Raspbian repositories, but on Pidora they are available. So I downloaded Pidora from http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/pidora_latest and...

Re: Atom-to-Pi project progress

I have found those posts before, but the problem was to get Allegro and the other libs installed. Kees sent me a message to install those from source as they are not in the Raspbian repositories. But I didn't make time to test that.

But I will try it soon.

Thanks,
Roland

Hi Dave,

Yes, it's at http://www.acornatom.nl/atomarch/Acl2-12/Mosrom Just strip the first 16 bytes as these are the Atom-in-PC file header.

Re: Atom-to-Pi project progress

I've had a play with my Pis (one with Raspbian, one with Risc OS) but haven't got much further than that yet, so it's nice to read about people DOING stuff. Playing with Raspberries is real fun. Especially if you know how to program the GPIO ports. And if you want it's really easy to connect simple...

I have RiscOS for my Raspberry running, but I'm not familiar with programming for RiscOS. With some effort I can start BBC Basic from a command window but I never got any further. To be honest I'm not really interested in programming for RiscOS. But I will spent some time to get Atomulator running i...

Re: Atom-to-Pi project progress

Disc emulation is fixed. I removed all the noise emulation but in the seek noise there is a variable fdctime set to 200. I also removed that, so the seek8271 function never got a ready state. Afer fixing that, I could load and start Repton. image.jpg Unfortunately it is not very playable. Graphics i...

Hi Dave, Afaik there are two versions of the bbc mos rom for the atom. One is of course the original by Acorn and the other one is an improved version by Ronald Boers ( http://www.acornatom.nl/atom_nieuws/1985/nr5/19855008.htm ). He has made several improvements and fixed bugs. I don't think there i...

Re: Decent wall shelves

I have very good experience with seperated brackets; I don't know if they are available in your region. These are wall mounted rails where you can mount the bracket at various heights. Brackets are from 15 to 50 cm. Just make sure your wall can carry the weight. Usually a wall made of stone can hand...

Re: Atom-to-Pi project progress

Small update: the BREAK key now works also. If I pressed it, the 8255 was reset so the Atomulator couldn't access the 8255 in the right way. Now, before an 6502 instruction is executed, it polls the GPIO pin which is connected to the reset pin of the 8255 and if break is pressed the program counter ...

Re: Atom - identifying a few boards/ mods

You're right, it's a 4364. Luckily it's compatible wih the 6264.

I loaded a recated version of bbc basic into ram and ran a new mosrom on my Atom-in-pc board. The basic was loaded a #C000 and the mosrom at #1000. Leaving 2000 - 7FFF for basic programs.
