Re: 10 line BBC BASIC game (@-man)

I had another go in MODE 7, which I found easier to play as it was easier on the eyes, and achieved another high score. I had to stop again after playing for some time.

Re: 10 line BBC BASIC game (@-man)

Excellent Simon! It does get a bit tedious after a while doesn't it? Funnily enough, the first level where there is only one enemy is a bit too quick, but after that it slows down to a more manageable pace, and when you get all four enemies it is an ok speed, there are just more chances to ge...

I gave up playing at 3091 score after I don't know how many levels. I was still in-game but my fingers were cramping.

Re: Turning a Music 500 into a Music 5000 but with a switch to revert the change

I wonder if there's any way to convert programs for Music 500 to the Ample ROM format.

What are the differences?

Presumably the ROM has more commands. I guess I need to start reading the manuals.

Re: Turning a Music 500 into a Music 5000 but with a switch to revert the change

There's only one other query. The Beeb I bought in a joblot with the Music 500, 4000 keyboard and other stuff has the Ample ROM installed. Most of the floppies I archived to my DataCentre auto boot and in !boot they have the line *AMPLE which, for certain disks is trying to run the software version ...

Re: Turning a Music 500 into a Music 5000 but with a switch to revert the change

Ah, so the only difference is whether I am going to be using it on a Master or not. That's useful to know. I do have a Master that I've never quite got around to changing the PSU caps on, and therefore I've never had it plugged in or switched on (as far as I can recall anyway), so I might not bother...

Turning a Music 500 into a Music 5000 but with a switch to revert the change

I have a Music 500. After some in depth conversations at Abug in January, I have been looked at what's involved in turning it into a Music 5000. I have seen a video detailing the mod, and how to do it, but I am uncertain as to whether or not it is a good idea to make the modification permanent. My p...

Re: Acorn Art Thread

The other day I painstakingly downloaded all the art from this thread (and the other one that it started on) into one folder on my laptop and I pointed Windows 10 at that folder to display a random image from the folder every 10 minutes as my Windows desktop background. Lovely images, and the time i...

I was asked in private message to upload a larger version of my diagram.

I couldn't add it to the reply to the pm, so I said I'd upload it here instead. It doesn't look any bigger but will go larger when you click on it.

Here it is:

Re: TTL RGB switch

I've used a 3d modelling software called Trimble Sketchup to make a couple of things in 3d. Usually it doesn't allow you to export STL files but there is a plugin (or is it extension) that does such a thing. The software is free unless you buy the Pro version (there's not much that is disabled in th...

Re: Cub Monitor Question

As long as the switch is triple pole double throw it should be usable. If you get a data sheet with the switch, or take a picture of the pins on the switch and upload it here, it might be possible to figure out which pins do what. Failing that, do you have a multi-meter? If so, you could probably fi...

Re: Learning MODE 7 animation

EDIT: Actually, I'm guessing that the reason that courseddent's code works is that it doesn't contain any forward-referencing labels, so it only needs OPT2, and no FOR-NEXT assembly loop. So P% only needs to be correct at the point of DIMming, which it will be. Or something like that..?! :? I guess...

Re: Learning MODE 7 animation

First thing I've noticed is that you're allocating a 100 byte range to store the code in by assigning to P%, but I'm not sure that would work. Looking in the user guide (page 435) there's a sample listing using: DIM GAP 50 P% = GAP [ assembly code ] CALL GAP In your case you are directly using DIM P...

I ventured into the metal shed today, and came out in one piece with 6 reasonably good fold-down wooden pasting tables.
