Re: I was given an Electron, but is it dead?

I have the system in a bin bag, but before throwing it out I thought I'd see if this was an easy fix. Never throw out an old computer, no matter how bad a state it is in. Something like that is always valuable to someone. Yes, at worst it would only cost you the postage to have it fixed, if we can'...

Re: Remarkable videos recently posted on Youtube

Right at the end of that video (about 13:20) you can see John Huddleston, of P.R.E.S. Ltd., in the background with his trademark white shirt and black beard. Shame the video didn't go round all the stands. Noticed a young (goodness weren't we all?) Chris Evans and, of course all the Micro User team ...

Re: I was given an Electron, but is it dead?

Yes, as stated above - the probable cause is the ULA. Of course, if you are near the ABUG South meeting pop along and all will, probably, be sorted - If not then you need to open your Electron and, in the first instance, just press-down on the ULA firmly whilst you switch-on (it's the big square IC ...

Electrons don’t die [-X

It’s late so I’ll post tomorrow with some things to try. In the mean time, if you could post some photos of what you’re describing, please - would be a help.

This is a cased BeebSCSI mini for the AP5 Looks nice :) But you do realise that the new 7_7 board supports the 'Dave Hitchins' configuration now? :) 12mm clearance height is all it needs: BeebSCSI 7_7 - RA Configuration.jpg Edit: You can also have the microSD card poking out the case as the new boa...

BUG in the new server update?

I've just posted 3 images in the BeebSCSI mini thread and notice a possible 'feature'! I loaded the images and then previewed them. At that point I 'lost' 2 of the images in the Add Files list (only the last image was listed) - so I couldn't add comments associated with each image. The images still ...

Re: Today I received.....

An Electron Turbo board, thanks to emeu1. This is a design from the Dutch version of Elector. Erik is also translating the article for me - I'll publish when I get it. Link to the article in Elektuur It looks like there's a few tracks that need cutting in the Electron  so I may have to get my...

Re: New Cartridge Case - for the Electron and Master

An 'open' version would be easy to implement, I'll put it on the list (I've still to do the mods for the ATI). NOTE, however, although I've not tried this, you may end-up with the problem that Gerald has highlighted e.g. with 'standard' IC sockets you may not be able to fit it into a cartridge slot....

Re: Master Ram Board or Second Processors.

I think the MRB support for games is variable in that if a game is written correctly, using all the official OS calls, then it should work in all three switch positions - and will probably benefit from the extra speed. Some games are just too slow on the Elk and so may benefit from the Turbo positio...

New Cartridge Case - for the Electron and Master

At last . . . I finally have a design for a cartridge case that accepts all Acorn Cartridge PCBs and all of mine and even fits both sockets of the Electron \:D/ It's now has rounded corners :D I started from scratch, as I now have a better grasp of Fusion 360. I'll add the .stl file (later) for thos...

Re: Mega Games Cartridge for the Electron MGC

Well it looks like we're good-to-go for a second (slightly smaller) batch of the original MGCs. I've spent the last month trying to find the AM29F032Bs at a reasonable price . . . You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would?) some of the quotations I've had. My usual supplier wanted $17 - the highest p...
