Re: 4 Mbytes and overclocking for A3020/A4000

hi! thank you for taking the time to confirm.

i guess the question is which is more useful, a faster 2mb machine or a standard speed 4mb machine!

hmm. Food for thought. I only use it for occasional games, but thought it would be nice to have.

hmm!

thanks again

Re: Not so common (these days) 8 bits

hard to beat the BBC :) MSX2 is worth having, but check first if you can find an IDE interface. It's easy to spend far too much on other MSX2 add-ons for limited gain.. a plain MSX2 with 128k (and an IDE though floppies will do) will run an early msdos, play loads games and its quite a nice machine ...

Re: Raspberry Pi for Kodi media centre

Hi Iain, Are you using this yourself? Are the catch-up services all available without any subscription? Dave Hi, I am yes, and yes - within the tv license rules of course. BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 etc are just android (android TV?) apps from the amazon firetv app store, which all apps are supposed...

Re: Raspberry Pi for Kodi media centre

an Amazon fire tv stick is great value and has a very nice remote. It has iplayer, itv player, channel 4 as well and there's plenty of guides to google to add Kodi etc to it.

A far more friendly solution imho!

Re: A3020 CF (or SD) HDD Solution

I'm also using one of those DOM's and can report it works perfectly. SD was hit and miss, i tried a few and none worked well.

I also found the easiest way to format it and transfer software was vis the raspberry pi/ risc method - theres a helpful thread about it on here somewhere!

this is likely only anecdotal, but I have 2 x sharp LC19 LCD TV's (yonks old) and both occasionally suffer a sync 'jump' or glitch, sometimes once a minute or so and other times after 5 or 10 mins. This is only when I use the BBC Model B (never my master) and i never see it on other computers. The t...

Re: How To: Install an IDE to SD Card Adaptor in your Archie

Hi jon

My A3020 has a built-in IDE. i hope it works.. I tried a "single-chip" Sd card adaptor before, and a CF adaptor... no joy. I think it was likely I was using the wrong version of software and or cylinders/ etc settings when formatting. But I dont know for sure :)
