Re: 3D Pinter Choice - Kit - For Printing Cartridges

Phil, did you make some of my huxley fan-mounts that are on thingiverse? :) Hi - I printed one of these http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:160549 which fits onto the back of the x-carriage and uses a 40mm fan - I used one out of an old PC PSU and the 12v fan works very well at 19v ! I can't tell whic...

Re: 3D Pinter Choice - Kit - For Printing Cartridges

I built one from reprap pro - https://reprappro.com/product-category/machine-kits/ I have a huxley - they've come down massively in price! d. Another vote for the RepRapPro Huxley as well. The only significant problems that I had were that the hot end temperature on mine needed to be significantly ...

Re: ATOM FPGA

Phil, The DE1 looks like an excellent board, and has everything needed (and more) including on-board SRAM and FLASH. Most of the Atom functionality is in Atomic_core and the VHDL here is pretty generic RTL VHDL. You'll need to create a new top level VHDL module that's specific to your DE1, that con...

Re: ATOM FPGA

Hi Phil, I've spotted the probably cause of this. I was referring to SPI_PORT rather than SPI_Port. It seems ISE 14.2 is sensitive to this, and ISE 14.4 is not. Can you try again with the latest code? Are you using the Papilio? The latest compiled bitstream is here: https://github.com/hoglet67/Atom...

Re: ATOM FPGA

Hi all, I've updated github now with a version of AtomFpga that uses hardware SPI. https://github.com/hoglet67/AtomFpga Dave Hi, I've had a go at this (using ISE 14.2 under Linux). It's failing with an error at the 'Implement Design' stage - it synthesises OK (with some warnings, but no errors). Th...

Re: FPGAs and 65816's

Got a bit further this morning - the BEEB.MMB file wasn't in the first eight directory entries on the card so I moved it with a sector editor. It now recognises the card and image but I just get garbage when I do a *DCAT or *DIN/*. Any ideas? Maybe check if the same card works on a real BBC and SD ...

Hi,

At a slight tangent, but in the same ball-park, there is this Tube ULA replacement (in Verilog, not VHDL) which might be of some use:

Good luck !

The Eagle freeware version has a limitation of boardsize (100 x 80mm), 2 layers and 1 sheet. Greetings Kees Have you looked at gEDA (gnu Electronic Design Automation) ? Bit of a learning curve though, so if you are getting on OK with KiCAD it's probably best to stick with it. There might still be t...

Re: Atom GODIL VGA Adapter

Do you know if the GODIL programmer also works with a USB-to-Parallel port adapter as well? I haven't tried one myself, but having searched on Xilinx forums for the same reason, the consensus was very strong that they don't work. So unless you can borrow one, I'd suggest not actually buying one. Ch...

I quite like bitsbox http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/ too. They don't have anything like the range of Farnell or RS, but they will still sell you just one resistor - if that's all you want! Postage is reasonable too (assuming you're not actually just buying one resistor). Similar to bitsbox but with a sli...

Re: Atom GODIL VGA Adapter

Hey Phil, Everything Roland said is spot on. Just to avoid any confusion with the test connector pinout, this is the correct pinout taken directly from the Xilinx constraint file: NET "VSYNC" LOC="P48" | IOSTANDARD = LVCMOS33 ; # connector pin E2 NET "HSYNC" LOC="P49" | IOSTANDARD = LVCMOS33 ; # co...

OK. Good luck, although with the instructions of Hoglet it's not that difficult. Also keep in mind that in his post with the connections at the test connector the HS and VS are swapped. And you can also start downloading the Xilinx software already as it really takes a few hours. After that you hav...

Hi Phil, I'll try to answer your questions: 1. I use the output to the test connector and bypassing the level shifters i...

But a do have a philosophical question. What is the real goal here? After all, the more specialized this becomes, the less software there will be. Yes, it is a P4 Roland, so it can certainly manage 4Mhz. Good point though. Initially I used a 6502a at 2Mhz (which worked), then the R65c02 at 2MHz (also worked), then to get to 4Mhz I knew I needed to refine the memory access timing arrangements. The point is that with my current arrangements, it...

Re: 2 key rollover on an Atom?

Interesting. So you load and run it, and you have rollover (in the BASIC interpreter)?
