Well that's 2 I have now, bought within a week of each other. One of them will be sold on, I cannot keep both.

Yeah, I was gobsmacked. You couldn't even say LOLPRICE because it got there on its own, thanks to what must have been a bidding frenzy.

Quite amazing. Maybe I'll list mine...

Hi Iain

Is it not possible to repair yours? Could you perhaps post some close ups?

Cheers

It's not a web page ad, it's a native dialog box with a couple of buttons. You have to click the cancel button to see the page... That's on iOS, Android may be different.

A balancing viewpoint?

Tapatalk is OK except that if you go browse a site with it installed, and you are using a mobile device's Internet browser, it throws up the most annoying pop up advert for the app. It's a major, major pain in the arse, and I have Tapatalk on my mobile phone (but not on my tablet - that costs extra)...

Re: Electron power supply

Indeed.. and looking at the power board, there is a 19vAC connection to the main board, which goes straight to the expansion port edge connector, so it is available to power additional peripherals (which of course would need their own power circuits if they wanted to use those lines). That's good fo...

Re: Electron power supply

Doesn't look very "non linear" to me... Looks like a ruddy big transformer with AC output....

Of course, there may be something clever in the Elk, but the wall wart doesn't even have a fuse!

(When I said "power supply" I was referring to this little beast, not any electronics inside the computer.)

Re: Electron power supply

Silly question here... Why on earth does it need 18vac? I have one right here. Nasty heavy transformer based supply with a nasty bell wire cable to the back of the Elk, which is nastily twisted, eurgh! It must have some serious voltage regulation in there (lots of heat then) to get it down to 5v TTL...

Re: Capabilities of AtomMMC and ROM/RAM boards

Yeah, Willem and TopWin are of the same sort of ilk. The TopWin came with an adapter that takes a square package ROM chip and converts it to DIL. Maybe I'm going to be lucky? :) Does the software do the erase operation too? I assume so. I'll have to load up the TOPWIN software and see (been a while ...

Re: Capabilities of AtomMMC and ROM/RAM boards

I have one, but I don't know if it can reprogram EEPROM. It's a cheap Chinese jobbie made by TOPWIN and I 've only used it for burning EPROMs (the sort you need a UV eraser to clear down the contents before programming). I do have some ability in this regard... not up to Prime's (and others) standar...

Re: Capabilities of AtomMMC and ROM/RAM boards

Are you saying what I think you are saying, Dan? You can't program it yourself without special tools. Meanwhile, I read the "other thread" and I see a list of ROMS which are installed. Yes, that looks good to me (at least for now). I presume there are manuals for all these ROMs? And is there a list ...

Re: Capabilities of AtomMMC and ROM/RAM boards

If you want to change the roms in the RAM-ROM board you'll need to reprogram it with an eeprom programmer. I have a UV eraser and EEPROM programmer, luckily. But I am assuming it has a single 32k PROM into which I must fit the desired ROM images, correct? So, extrapolating from that, I should choos...

Hi Since I ordered one each of these Atom essentials, I’m anticipating lots of fun and in the meantime hoping for a little enlightenment. I’ve had a look round the forums and although people rave about them, I haven’t found much information about capabilities and usage. I did look at the ROM/RAM ins...

Forum user sirmorris makes the MMC card, you can PM him for details of availability. I've not got mine yet but I read lots of good comments. Once you have it I imagine loading games is just a matter of preparing an SD card and copying game images to it for loading on the Atom. I am sure others with ...

In all honesty, I'd just replace all the electrolytics on the board - CPC are free on all orders at the moment, so just whack one in there. 7x22uf axial, 10V - order code CA07190 (Minimum order 5) 1x10uf axial, 25V - order code CA07171 (Minimum order 5) d. They might have free delivery but they wan...
