Re: BBC psu capacitors, do you really need them?

OK I bought a second bbc micro thats had its caps popped and after taking the psu out to remove the toffees i discovered that one of the other large caps has either leaked or got hot or both and has actually bulged the pcb underneath it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Sloposse/Acorn/Image207...

Im just in the process of replacing some dodgy caps from my second psu and have just noticed that r26 has been chopped off the board altho the legs are still sticking out the board. Can anyone tell me of a guide or whatnot or even whic...

I can vouch for that as ive just made a cable following marks (retroclinic) wiring diagram and ended up with a grey scale picture on my 32 inch alba lcd tv and after a little playing around in the setting discovered that you can alter the rgb input settings on it and changed it from auto to rgb and ...

Oh christ i think ill leave this one alone. I didnt realise it was so involved especially with a co processor as well. Why couldnt they take after sinclair and have 1 cable with 1 jack and 1 interface for each machine *sigh*

Thanks for the info paulv

Installing econet into a beeb

How hard would it be to source the parts to fit econet into a bbc micro? Can you still get them all? What is the clock and whats it for/does it do?

Ive got 2 bbc's now and am interested in trying econet out.
Cheers

Re: LCD screen for BBC

Hi Guys, After getting help from my brother to hook up one of my BBC Master Compact's to my 32" Sanyo LCD Widescreen TV, the BBC gives a grey a screen as opposed to a normal black background. The Mode 7 text is slightly fuzzy like ghosting, and I wrote a quick colour test program to see if there wa...

BBC psu capacitors, do you really need them?

I wonder if you really need the small rectangular capacitors that smoke in the bbc psu because at the weekend i took my psu out after a lot of infuriating random crashes, power on and offing rapidly and occasionally the machine displaying BBC COMPUTER 16K. having stripped it all apart I discovered t...

you are quite right but an rca plug is so common why wouldnt you just want to use the rf plug everyones just about got a spare rca plug/lead hanging about it makes an ideal composite video lead

yes but the video out is in black and white and if you join up the s39 link to gain colour the picture gets saturated and blurry, this way its pin sharp apart from the dot crawl

Re: Composite output in colour on the BBC Micro

Hmm having read it back it does look a little confusing and the dark picture doesnt help much, so ive taken some more. The modulator has 2 wires going into the side of it, the one in the centre is the composite input and the other is power +, the negative is from the case soldered to the board under...

Composite output in colour on the BBC Micro

I dont know if this has been covered here before but i cant see much reference to it so i'll go for it. The output from the rf modulator in my bbc micro was shocking to say the least, and black and white composite from the video out socket isnt no use to anyone unless your colour blind or doing mono...

can anyone remember this hangman game called wilt?

WILT. by Colin Harrison, (1984) Longman Micro Software, for BBC.B it was quite a simple game but then how complicated can hangman get, it had nice graphics and sound effects and would be perfect for children to play. Instead of the hangmans pole you had a big sunflower that wilted when you got a let...
