Re: R65C02 in a Beeb

The caps are both marked 22K. I assume that's 22pF with some type of tolerance code, not 22nF.

I'll try the test after dinner.

Re: R65C02 in a Beeb

I added some extra decoupling between pins 1 and 8, and that made no difference. When I bought my R65C02, over the counter at Solidisk, the technician told me an extra capacitor may be needed across an IC. This was way before I'd studied any electronics so I was just following instructions. I do re...

I'll try to run some tests this weekend.

Re: BeebSCSI mini

No because I already have the PCBs and getting more PCBs made just for qty 10 wouldn't be economical.
As with the original red prototypes it's always possible to make an extension from a staight-through
connector.

That's the 10 then. I'll get prices in for the component and then update the shop with some stock.

Re: New TEAC floppy drives

Alway nice to resurrect an old thread :) A large part of the price I originally came up with was to cover the bulk shipping to me and I've been holding off putting these on the webshop whilst I came up with an alternative. I now have a way of getting these to me at much lower cost so I'm going to pu...

If I do another batch then I'll revisit the power connector.
A few that I sent out did have right-angle connectors but I ran out.

Re: BeebSCSI mini

Done!

All 40 units assembled, tested and either posted or are in a jiffy bag and labelled to go.

Thanks for everyone's support and patience.

I have a couple more empty PCB panels and will do a batch if there is sufficient interest
to do a whole panel (15).

Re: BBC Micro: writes to ROM?

As a rule of thumb, unless a datasheet says that an output can survive a short then I would avoid it. As you draw more current the pin will gradually "let go" and eventually the voltage will no longer be within the valid voltage range for the connection standard (TTL/CMOS etc). Drawing yet more curr...

BeebSCSImini

A placeholder thread for people to raise any questions about the units that I'm posting out. To kick off: power . It needs power as no 5v is available on the 1MHz bus. The BeebSCSI mini has space for a three pin power connector. You will need to connect 5v to the centre of this and 0v to either/both...

Shipping!

Thanks for everone's patience most of the first batch are out the door.
There are some which are awaiting the 1MHz bus connector to be soldered
on (I ran out of stock) and they will go out in the next day or two.

I should get most of the assembly done over the weekend and
then I'll start posting out next week. Sorry for the delay but the
day job has been a bit mental recently.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

I note the latest MCS file for the LX9 mini board supports the UART on pins 51/55
where my board has it on 46/47. So I have a booting board but no UART right now :-)

[EDIT] As Phill has his build environment set up he's spinning me a different version.
Thanks!

Re: Arduino Filestore

I don't know anything about the SPI unit on Atmels but the MCU I was using only transferred multiples of 8-bits so external stuffing/unstuffing is required to make sure all frames in/out of the SPI are so. If you have the cycles to spare I'm sure you could do all this in an software every Econet clo...

Re: Arduino Filestore

The CPLD code basically bit stuffs (and unstuffs) so you can connect to an 8bit SPI port. Obviously as the Econet has a clock the CPLD is the master and the MCU is the slave. The code is very ugly with some extremely dubious async clock stuff going on to squeeze the functionality ouf of the 9500 whi...

Re: Arduino Filestore

That assumes that, without the 6854, you have some alternative form of serialise/deserialise logic (with at least a couple of bytes of FIFO) so that you can operate byte by byte rather than bit by bit. That's exactly what I have in mind (using a small CPLD to handle clocking bits onto and off the w...

and dispatch will be about a week after that.

Re: ICE T65/Z80/6809

The intention always was to have the pullups the same side as the pins and the ICs leaving the other side purely for strapping pings high or low. However, you had one of the early board which for some reason I put the resistors on the other size. All new boards shipped since last week have the inten...

Reminds me, I've seen lots of funnys with IDE cables that have been repurposed, including
it working with the cable one way around but not the other, I kid you not!
I too would recommend your testing with it directly connected under the keyboard
rather than using a ribbon.

The other thing is the pull-ups on one board are in on the other side to the other board.
This shouldn't make any difference.

You can return it for a bitware downgrade to see if that helps.
