Re: BBC/Master Power Supply Adjustment

Thanks all for the great advice (as usual) The tolerance of most 5V TTL and compatible chips is at worst, 4.75V to 5.25V. So in practice, you should measure the voltage on the +5V rail at the point on the motherboard that is furthest from the power supply connection point. The voltage here should be...

BBC/Master Power Supply Adjustment

Hi all,

I just noticed that my Master is delivering nearly 6v on the 5v rail of the power supply - which might explain why it seems to be killing eproms fairly regularly. :(

Does anyone got any advice for adjusting the power down to the correct level?

Cheers

Re: myelin’s Econet Hub

I've just packed up two for Liam, two for Mark, and one for ask_nz (who still needs to send me an address). There are only two PCBs left now, so anyone else who wants one should get in quick :) (I'll do another board order in a bit, but if you want one now, PM me...) Many thanks Phil - mine arrived...

Re: Acorn Domesday AIV SCSI Boards - now free...

So in theory - an acorn Winchester 110'130 system could drive a SCSI1 directly off the SCSI host Adapter Board? Would ADFS recognize it? Reason for my question is that I have a broken Winchester 110 (failed MFM Drive), and I believe I have few early SCSI drives around somewhere. MFM drives are very ...

Re: Acorn Domesday AIV SCSI Boards - now free...

So if I understand correctly the acorn SCSI host adapter is an externally connected card and the acorn Avi host adapter is the internal master card for doomsday?

Is the acorn SCSI host adapter the card in the acorn Winchester 110/130 device?

Re: Acorn Domesday AIV SCSI Boards - now free...

I remember you writing about the differences between the acorn SCSI host adapter and acorn video host adapter - is the Avi card the video adapter? Does it read/write all SCSI 1 drives?

Re: Reverse Tube - an amusing idea

Ha ha - this is really amusing because I was having the same thought last week - ie. reversing the architecture and treating the co-processor as a true sub-processor. Worth a thought but I suspect the OS would have to be re-written to some extent.

Big welcome - and I hope the power supply doesn't go pop on first try - I think my first "old" Beeb did, but its a fairly easy to fix and all part of the retro initiation.

you can definitely see the circuit traces on the upper side unless the circuit board is semi transparent.

Re: Worth Taking a Look At

Is there a collected guide of what to look out for on the very early issue beebs anywhere? So far I can see:- Large gap at the back Linear PSU (presumably no magic smoke) No perforated ash tray Note sure if this is exactly what your looking for but my observations of early model is... The case mold...
