Re: Bug in Blagger #2

OK,
I will put that magenta block (&22) back &3BBC in Level 1 and leave the rest as it is.
As you say you can fall through blocks, but not get stuck off screen.
I will sort this plus the new name asap.

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

Maybe that block in the bottom right should be one of those things that costs you a life if you touch it to make that corner more hard. Also it should be possible to remove the other 2 blocks in the top right to make that level unbreakable. As for level 12 maybe the block you start on is designed to...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Thanks for that.
I will check each game as I compact them.

Strange, so Klingon%=123:CLEAR:P.Klingon% returns No such variable.
Yet K%=123:CLEAR:P.K% returns 123

again, thanks, I have made a note.

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

Here you go!

I have made it THE MILE!

also DESCEND

as for the name, I think it should be put back to NEW BLAGGER as I remember seeing that on various floppies BITD.

I think we need input from others for the name!

Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Hi All, As you may be aware Football Manager was compacted/compressed using this tool as it needed to load at &1300 instead of &E00 to not only work from disc, but also be able to save files, so &1100 was no good, it had to be &1300 meaning &500 had to be chopped from the program to fit. Before, TOP...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

Here's the game put back together. I have amended Level 1 and &3BBC is now &02 to put a blank space in the bottom right corner area instead of that magenta/white block I had put there before as that seemed redundant to the game. Everything else is as it was. Level 4 has 5 keys Level 7 has the border...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

One more thing... Looking at level 7 (I'M LOST) there would appear to be 2 of those magenta/white boxes in the border at the top of the screen. No other level seems to have anything like this, so are these another error. The test below has them removed and I have been able to jump across where they ...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

One last thing. The glitch on level 1 in the bottom right where you can go off screen. If you load the game at &1500 then the offending block is &3BBC which is &12 (a brick/block). If you change this to &22 (a magenta/white block then this should stop you bouncing off the ceiling. See what you think...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

Just taken another look. 2 things, firstly I think the extra key is the one at the bottom right. I have now removed it leaving just 5 keys to collect. secondly, I think the white/magenta graphics above the blue/white and directly below where the 6 keys were is also a error as you cannot walk on them...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

OK, If you *LOAD the game (that is the cheat version for now) at &1500, then the code for THE CAVERN (level 4) is stored between &3E00 and &3F00. I have found the offending extra keys (&BB) and removed them so the 6 keys at the top and 16 of the 17 at the bottom have now gone. This now just leaves 6...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

WOW! excellent stuff! There's just one thing bothering me and I don't know if anyone else sees the same thing here. All levels except level 4 only feature 5 keys. Looking at level 4s layout, there are 5 keys plus 6 together in the top middle left and 17 along the very bottom. Looking at our these ar...

Re: Adventure into BBC Basic

Hi,
You can add a download routine to Castle3 to move it down to &E00 for extra room.

Is it possible to post the original tape version here for us completists.

thanks

Re: MIA Pandemonia by Jeffrey Cooke.

Hi,
Yes it does run fast, but if you keep to the bottom right area then it is possible to move onto higher levels.
Not great at playing games myself.

Will also repost my D111 with this corrected version soon.

Re: Adventure into BBC Basic

Hi,
Would the original game not have run at &1100 page?
It would be nice to have it running on a BBC B as it says 1984 so would have been for that machine.

Good work BTW

Re: MIA Pandemonia by Jeffrey Cooke.

OK, a sort of breakthrough. Lee sent me the PCW mag listings to check but &8 and &B seem to be an issue with the print. Looking through both sets of instructions printed in both issues it looks like the things that get stuck on the right are part of the game but should not get stuck. The purple thin...

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

So here's the question.

Is the Autojump just a side effect of emulation or does this actually happen on a real BBC?

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

With ref to "There also seems to be an auto-jump key - ? (or @ on a PC keyboard) with * (/) to stop it."
I can easily add these keys to the loader instructions, however, first, I have not found these to work. Has anyone else? and if so, could you let me know when and what they do.

Re: Bug in Blagger #2

The history of this game is vague, but I can tell you that it was never released commercially, and the copy I had BITD had been copied off someone else's floppy. I can remember this though... from time to time I remember seeing this game on other floppies as New Blagger and also Blagger III (assumin...

Re: Golf Game from TMU 7.12 Feb 1990

Thanks for the help.

This is now sorted.

so 8.02 had 9 hole course 1 compacted
8.03 had 9 hole course 2 compacted (which Golf21 to 26 were part of)
and
8.04 had 9 hole course 3 compacted.

I will now be putting each course onto a new games disc in due course (no pun intended!)

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Created in January 2020... here is Games Disc 142. Disc142.zip The disc is called Disc142.dsd so it can be loaded into a Datacentre on a real BBC without having to rename it. The 18 games on this disc include... Lifter from Games Computing (#3). Sky-Diver (AKA Skydive) from Practical Computing (8.01...

Re: Golf Game from TMU 7.12 Feb 1990

Not much to read about in 8.1 and 8.2, but it looks like the 9 courses from 8.2 are the actual game and the ones on the earlier issues may have been samplers.

Adding line 411 to the main game with f=1 just to to cheat, the game does go through all 9 courses then ends with the score chart.

Re: Golf Game from TMU 7.12 Feb 1990

Thanks for these, however, they are the same I have with the corrupted GOLF21 file on 7.12. I think I may have solved the issue. On 8.12 there is a faulty decompactor. However, if you change the faulty NEXT statement at line 190 to UNTILFALSE then it decompacts 9 totally new screens and saves them a...

Missing A&B Computing scans

Hi all,
Happy new year!

There are a few scans of A&B mags missing from 8bit Software's site.

Firstly, does anyone have a scan of 3.05 from May 1986.
I just need some instructions for a game called Zim if there are any.

thanks

Hi,
Entropy is a PD game on that disc along with Time Lapsed which also did not have any info IIRC.
Not to worry, there are scrolling instructions in game.
