DTRAP

Hi All, There are a few games that reactivate the disc drive and therefore require DTRAP on BBCs with Datacentres fitted, but are all the games that reactivate the disc drive necessary? One game, the disc version of Breakthrough by ASL has a routine that the tape version does not, yet that version (...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Yet another game that may benefit from compacting is Wheeler Dealer from OIC. This game originally ran from tape at &E00, but to *save the BusData file to disc it needs running at &1300 removing &500 from its Busines file to avoid any possible "no room errors". This new test disc features a compacte...

PASSWORDS

Over at Stairway To Hell, there are passwords listed for many games, but not all. Some passwords are easy to hack from listings, but others may be generated by the game itself and are EORed somewhere in the game listing. Does anyone have the passwords for the following games that they could please p...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Hi,
I too found sometimes that by adding additional basic code (a downloader routine) to the end of a game, that it created a "no room error". The way around this was to add it as a machine code downloader at the end of the game and call that.

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Although I don't give much credit to others, and I probably should, I could not create these new discs if members on this forum did not supply me with the software which goes onto every disc. There is enough new content out there to produce at least another 6 discs over the next half a year, each fe...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

If anyone knows of any other games that give a "no room at line..." error that I have not mentioned then please let me know. However, the only games that should be considered are ones that would allow you to save a high score/your position to disc instead of tape and also must be written in BASIC so...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

As a bonus, I have come across a copy of Rome 90 from Qualsoft. Again, this is a game that would load at &E00 from tape, but needs to run at &1300 to save the 'SG' file to disc in order to play the 2nd part. This new test disc features compacted games that now run at &1300 with a bit less code so yo...

Lastly... Red Coats or Redcoats. This version has been amended to load each pre defined battle as BATTLE1, BATTLE2 and BATTLE3 etc due to DFS limitations. You can also load/save your own battles as BATTLE and a file is included here. I have also written/copied the instructions for the game and inclu...

Soccer Supremo was interesting. The version I had was only able to load the "new season" data files at the start and then only play one per game. The Boss could only save a game to tape as it needed to be run from &E00. This new test disc features a compacted BOSS file that now runs at &1300 so you can save your score to disc. Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Hi Stephen, Sounds good to me. I am hopeful that using the PACK program that most of the problem games can be compacted correctly and then work on a basic BBC B with a DFS at &1100 and above. I really want to get the games working as they would originally and do away with the need for DTRAP and also...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

Ref Stolen Lamp. This can be removed from the list as it loads at &1200 from original tape so no need to compact. Oxbridge doesn't compact enough to work so will have to be left as it is. Just means you can't save to disc. Also Identify Europe won't benefit as machine code is loaded from &B00 upward...

Here's Division One '85' with some instructions I have created. This game will require play testing to make sure all aspects now work correctly after compacting. From the playing I have done, it seems OK. If it proves fine, then I will put it onto my Disc112 over the old edited version. Mick. DIVISI...

It would be nice if the author or anyone from Alligata could tell us if this was ever given to them, or considered for publication, or if it was just a simple hack passed around amongst friends etc. Anyway, I have now copied it back onto my Disc022 and reposted that disc. Also, as a bonus, I have co...
