Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Hi All, Just re-posted Disc 068 in Section 5 due to adding some inlay instructions to Pettigrew's Diary. Also, First Moves Chess's instructions have been compacted using PRES Advanced BASIC Editor in order to allow it to work correctly from disc without needing DTRAP. NOTE: I have not changed Pettig...

Re: Bug in The Golden Figurine

Fantasic work fixing this game!

I wonder how many more games have bugs not yet found?
Hopefully, there are now enough of us here on this site to sort anything that springs up!

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Hi All, Just re-posted Disc 037 in Section 3 thanks to Forum members finding a bug in The Golden Figurine. The *FX212,3 has been changed to *FX212,16 in its loader. EDIT: By popular demand, I have just posted the disc again as the version now on D037 has been restored to its original fast running sp...

Re: Thrust Disassembly

Hi Martin,
I would like to include the both Thrust and the Snapper Upgrade on one of my new Alternative discs.
Is this OK with you?
Also, When was the Snapper upgrade written?

regards,
Mick.

Re: Bug in The Golden Figurine

Hi, If your using the image I put on disc, then it runs slower as I added a FOR/NEXT loop in the basic to slow it down as it did seem to run too fast. Some of the Atlantis titles that were both BBC/Electron compatible had routines that checked which computer it was running on and adjusted automatica...

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Created in May 2020... here is Games Disc 146. Disc146.zip The disc is called Disc146.dsd so it can be loaded into a Datacentre on a real BBC without having to rename it. The 18 games on this disc include... Shock (36 Challenging Games) from Interface Publications. Connect 4 from Kay-Dee Software. T...

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Hi All,
Just re-posted Disc 041 in Section 3 after amended Hell-Hole with the *LOAD HELL1 CALL&4A72 instead of *RUN HELL1 so it works with different DFS's (as per postings).

Re: Games with problems

Hi All,

The main reason why I did not add *TAPE originally is because there is a machine code LDA#&8C at &4A26 in HELL1.
So would simply...
160 *LOAD HELL1
170 call&4A72
...do the job?

Mick.

Re: 30th Anniversary BBC and Electron Collection

Hi All, There will possibly be some minor re-posts soon. Currently I have posted a bunch of games on this forum that have been compacted using the PRES Advanced BASIC Editor PACK which are posted in the Archive Issue section above. The idea is to allow the games to run from disc at &1300 without cau...

Re: The Cascade 50 cassette

Hi All, With regard to authors for these games. One game I have is called React by D.C.Rigby which is identical to Sitting Target. My copy has Copyright D C Rigby 1983 instead of Cascade. Not sure where this game originated and not sure if React came first or if React is a hack of Sitting Target. It...

Re: Advanced BASIC Editor PACK

One last game that may benefit from compacting is Swordmaster from Acorn User. This game originally ran from tape at &E00, but to *save the FILE file to disc it needs running at &1300 removing &500 from its SWORD4 file to avoid any possible "no room errors". This new test disc features a compacted g...

Re: Repton 3: Emulator/RNG issue

Hi All, I may have jumped the gun quite a bit changing RTT as my original copy on D045 may have been OK to start with. Sure I could not load the FUNGTST file to test it and yes the code is different, but I assumed it was original and had the bug, when now I read RTT was released last, so surely must...

Re: Repton 3: Emulator/RNG issue

Here is D045 with the amended REPTON2 file that now matches the code of the other 3 Repton 3 games.
Could someone please play test this game and see if it works Ok.
The fungus test seems Ok, but you never know if by changing the code, something else happens?

Mick.

Re: Repton 3: Emulator/RNG issue

Hi, I am not sure where my Repton 3 came from either. I can confirm the fungus test works on it. Strangely, Life of Repton and 40 Screens have identical code and the fungus test works on them. My copy of Thru Time would not load FUNGTST and on checking the code was slightly different. Made a new ver...

Re: Repton 3: Emulator/RNG issue

Hi,
no problem, if we find something wrong then we need to post it here for testing as there are enough of us to fix just about any issue.

Just one thing, did you try both D024's I posted or just the fix as if the original one I posted lastly was OK, then I can leave it as it is.
thanks

Thanks Bill for that.
I take it NOPing out the JSR&FFF1 won't break the game in anyway, but should end the need for DTRAP.

Re: Repton 3: Emulator/RNG issue

That may explain why the code in my copy of Repton 3 was in a slightly different place from where you put yours ie &2FAB and &2FA5 etc. Here is my original disc024. Could someone please playtest this version to see if it contains a fixed version or not. Originally, the game would have come from the ...

Re: DTRAP

Not sure, but there were other NOPs just after that code, so may need to see the original disc to check if something else was changed. The tape version does not have this code, so it may be something added just for the disc version, but I don't know what unless it is just a check that the catalog is...
