Re: Today I received.....

A Master Dual MOS off eBay. The kind that uses a standard (large) eprom. I've had a Retroclinic one ever since I've had the machine but have always wanted to customise it and frankly it just seemed easier (maybe not cheaper) to replace the dual MOS for a more conventional model than it was to buy a ...

Re: Master 128 SCART Fun

Thanks for confirming that it looks like it's not switching to RGB. I'm not really sure what to do here, as always, no solution I have is ideal! Before heading to the office I quickly tried the Polaroid TV/DVD player that I inherited and it again looks pretty damn good, plus as an added Brucy bonus ...

Master 128 SCART Fun

Nothing seems to be straight forward this week! I have no idea what happened to the SCART cable I used to have on my Acorn kit so seeing as my Cub is looking like it's going to die soon I thought it was time to make a new cable. Besides, soldering wires to the composite output every time I need to g...

[EDIT] Ignore me - lack of sleep! I've already got a thread and clearly I was intending to go UPURS to RAM FS.

Would be much better if ADFS were supported. Would save a lot of dicking about to get files onto the CF HDD.

Re: EEPROM - the Holy Grail of Sideways Rom?

I'm quite surprised nobody has flinched at the fact the outputs from the LS139 on my cart are effectively reversed compared to the schematic. Might be worth making a note somewhere on the cart diagram to confirm which IC socket is enabled by which pin and use accordingly?

Re: EEPROM - the Holy Grail of Sideways Rom?

UPURS can wait to another day (and that damn SCART cable!). I need a drink after all this EEPROM shenanigans.

Oh, and PS: Ken's revised unlock command works. The earlier ones might well do too but I'm a little short on the willpower to download the older ones and try them now.

Re: EEPROM - the Holy Grail of Sideways Rom?

BINGO! Lesson learnt. Never trust that your cart is identical to the schematics. After cutting two more tracks to isolate the /OE signals coming out of the HCT139 and adding a patch wire to take the correct one to IC2 my cart now appears to work. So that's a relief. Obviously I could have completely...

Re: EEPROM - the Holy Grail of Sideways Rom?

I did, yes. Also checked when I got home today with a meter. Everything looks OK to me. I'm going to fit a jumper in place of a switch and re-check everything now. If it's still a no-go then will put it aside for a night or two. Build a SCART lead, hopefully a UPURS cable and maybe even do a bit of ...

I'm no longer on FB or G+, I just found them to be a massive time waster and in recent years just full of crap. It got worse when businesses invaded and just spewed marketing all over the place. Re: EEPROM - the Holy Grail of Sideways Rom?

Yep, just looked at the cart schematics again. I have pin 1 of the EEPROM lifted out of the socket and connected to pin A16 of the cart (AA14) and that signal isolated from the 139. So assuming ROMQA = AA14 then circuit-wise I'm good and have no idea what's going on. Pretty sure it's cart related an...

All the pictures in this thread seem to be aftermarket Master ROM carts. Is there any difference in the implementation for a genuine Acorn cart? Hi - I managed to move the wrong link last night when I was trying out some EPROMs in my Master and now I can't remember where it was. What is the default or "normal" position for link 12? The bottom most of the three that are to the left of the ROMs. From the schematics it looks like it supplies ei...

Dave - which is correct, the schematics or the PLD / JED file? After beeping out every connection on the PCB I'm basically convinced that physically everything is fine. My other carts are working fine in the Master so I'm pretty sure that is fine (but clearly I don't write to EPROMs). I can happily ...

Roger that. Need to whip the eproms out as they stick out a bit far so getting the cart in at all is a bit of a trial, let alone inserting and removing to clean it!

I'm getting weirdness now too. If I put one of my original carts in that has ADT and ADI EPROMs in it, it's not recognised by the master. If I don't find a quick resolution to this I'll start a new thread because it's looking more and more likely it may not have anything to do with the ARA III [EDIT...

Pretty easy to mutilate original carts. What was your issue with the gal? NUTS. I was looking forward to that too.
