Don't think I do either :D I use a kvm from my converter, but it does noticeably fuzz the display.

Re: Electron Plus 3, some questions.

It is, I think, still providing power to the elk/peripherals AFAIK. The plus 3 psu is only powering the drive. That's if I remember correctly... Which I might not.

You could run the level 1 file server software and do so? But it's not really very satisfactory...

A few lacerated tracks on a 2 layer board is very unlikely to be terminal. Can you post a picture of the offending area? Mark does repairs too.

It'll be fixable for less than the cost of a new one, I'm fairly sure...

-B-'s avatar (Metal Mickey) just made me say to my wife "Wow... Metal Mickey. I haven't seen that since I was little, I wonder if it was spectacularly crap?"

Anyway, remarkable video indeed (beeb-era, certainly misc):

Aotta - the entire design is open:

No one's making them at the moment - if you wanted to put a batch of 10 together, you'd probably be able to shift them all?

?

But have you done a power-on holding down delete since you replaced the IC? That should clear up any muckiness. sorry, didn't read properly!

Re: RPC with faulty keyboard interface

If it's not remembering and you're sure the rtc ic is being powered, double and triple check all of the circuit connectivity/components around it, I've had the resistors/caps in that circuit crumble before when they looked fine on initial inspection.

Re: How far gone must a BBC be to be unfixable?

The limit has to be when the parts to fix it cost more than a new machine? They're fairly robust. Anything with a complete circuit diagram and built mostly from off the shelf components is mostly going to be fixable with the time/inclination.
