Re: Electron Rescued PCB with Power Supply, Needs Case

well, this is awkward. I just carefully desoldered all of the pins on the ULA socket and once i was absolutely sure they were all clear I ever-so-gently applied a little pressure with a thin knife to persuade it up off the board... snap, ping, f*@$ it, i've broken the ULA socket bed corner clean of...

Re: Electron Rescued PCB with Power Supply, Needs Case

Brilliant, that's really good of you. Issue 4 is a slightly more robust design I think, so long as it wasn't the ULA socket that kippered the elk? I've got almost a complete set of spare keytops if that's any help? (Not switches)... I'll get my bum into gear and get that electron user posted out to ...

Re: Electron Rescued PCB with Power Supply, Needs Case

Sorry, no ULA sockets, but maybe we know someone who has . . . Anyone have a spare ULA socket? If no one responds I'll have a trawl around t'internet. Dave H :D This is the actual jobby: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330509874389 but that price is a no-goer. Cheaper to get a doner elk and give the keys...

Re: Electron Rescued PCB with Power Supply, Needs Case

Dave, I have a dying electron that needs reviving, can't quite pinpoint the death-zone at the moment, but might be the ULA socket :? If you're happy to pass on, I'm happy to cough up. Daniel: My boards untested, currently, however, I can sent it off for you to try. You can send me yours and I'll so...

Re: A3020 upgrades

Pleased it's answered some questions - it's what I'd have wanted to see when I first started tinkering. You could try 50MHz crystals too - you might be lucky and find they work OK with your machine. And don't forget the resistor! I'd probably try sticking a single pole switch in the +5V line that fe...

Re: RS423 upgrade for the Slogger Plus 2

John, Daniel; thank you. i thought about putting up a photo of my populated, non-working, board but wouldn't this just muddy the waters? I think it needs a sit down with the data sheet for the UART and the unpopulated +2 to work out what signals are going to U2/U3. There's a possibility that those ...

******************* Edit: 7-2-13 - 22:30 - - - If the Pegasus DFS (?) ROM has all the commands that it does . . . How does it fit into a 6K ROM - Assuming that it's an E00 version? Re: New Design For Electron Disc Interface AP3/4/Peg

The only thing the chip select over both sockets could allow is a cut down ADFS that keeps its workspace there. As far as I remember there is an &E00 ADFS that runs in sideways ram and they did it by cutting some of the lesser used commands out. Don't think it was jigged for the elk but in theory it...

First thing, have you got the universal boot structure installed? AFAIK most of the correct drivers are in that?

Re: Identification of small Electron PCB

Here you go, Phill's right. It's a keyboard buffer for the RX: Popular 'PC' style design is predominant, with the original Electron keyboard and case which will retain both the speaker and the Master RAM Board switch, remote from the main RX unit on a generous length of ready made and buffered keybo...

Hello! Yes! Hopefully! The software I'm writing should enable us to do that. Arc ADFS is first on the list. Once I've got it generating the correct bitstreams reliably I'll ask Billcarr about his disc image format and we'll see what we can do. It won't support writing unfortunately, certainly initia...

Just looking at that board, it looks like it's designed to shove some edge connector signals through a buffer IC. I don't have the elk edge connector diagram to hand at the moment... Thanks for the replies :D When I open up my A3020 for battery check / replacement, and investigate the A4000 that is awaiting attention, I may well add this over-clock as well. It looks like it may be possible to over-clock a A3010 system, but would require more work as the convenient PCB position ...
