Re: ADFS Deleted File Recovery - Assistance Required

Dave, just make a copy of the drive files on the SD card on your PC, and drop them back on if you bugger it up :) Don't worry about copying between LUNs on the 8bit machines :D

Okay, here's the schematics for the scanner, monitor and interface along with BOMs :) It was designed by Timothy Edwards and sold by Timestep electronics - I can't find anything contemporary about him :(

Re: Linux partition format

Get a cheap external USB hdd and shift all your data over to that temporarily. The OS can just be downloaded again once you've got a new drive sorted out :) As Richard says, the location of the bad sectors isn't really relevant, just save the data!

If you got someone to consult on a project you wanted done, you're talking thousands.

Save your pennies and buy things when people offer them for sale :) that's the biggest motivator.

The advantage of the Li-SOCl2 ones is they last 7 years and are AA in size :D
I know sydney tried a supercap at one point, which I think held charge for a pretty long time?

Yes, have the schematics - these aren't the Cirkit boards, but I'll scan and upload these later this evening :). Dave's also emailed me the ROM - looks like I've got version 2.0 by Matthew Atkinson & Peter Clappisonb here, and in the other thread is version 3.0 just by Peter Clappison.

I don't think so. I had an issue 2 from new (early 84), and it's definitely on there (about the 5th program?) - I actually loaded it off the original tape last night just to reassure myself I wasn't imagining it!

Re: Electron Cumana Disc Interface

Assume you've found this topic: https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15423 - I don't know if Dave got any further? Buzz out what and use hookup wire to repair? That's probably the approach I'd take. Reproducing a board that size with the gold fingers will be quite expensive. Dave's reworkin...

Re: Best way to treat this A7000+ motherboard

Two things: Firstly, no need to use dilute vinegar - it's not a very strong acid and you're going to be washing it off fairly rapidly. Secondly, did you get in there with a toothbrush (old!)? It does need a bit of agitation. You might find a bit of white residue here and there, but ideally it should...

It's an open design, so if you want to make your own you can - I have a few PCBs I think still. DIY probably comes to £15ish if you're just making one.

Re: RiscPC600:battery leak

No need to use bicarb after the vinegar, just rinse it off well with water, and give it a final rinse with distilled water. If your local water is very soft (douce?) then you can probably get away without needing distilled water. We've had them working again when they've been in worse condition than...

:D - I can only really speak for myself - time's the killer and consequently, for me, as soon as someone puts money to something the pressure mounts, and it stops being fun :(

That's certainly in the "development" space.

Re: RGB to HDMI using a Pi Zero and a small CPLD

I've just idly pinged in an order to JLC - I think they'll panelise (the dimensions seem to fit - but I await rejection!), so that'll be 30 boards for £8 if they do it. 12-25 days on shipping though... Will post when (if) they appear.

It's a HD146818P, so I'd try a bit of an ebay trawl or utsource if nothing appears at a reasonable price there? Not sure if Dave H has them, or Retroclinic might too?
