Re: Loss of output on Electron RGB Port

If nothing at allon the gbs8200, it could only be ic14 the 74LS86 that the sync signal goes through? Composite working proves the rgb is fine.

Re: Questions about doing the vinegar wash

Don't worry about liquid/electronics. If it's not plugged in you're fine. First remove anything that you can from the board (socketed ICs etc). I'd bring it down a bit with distilled water to perhaps 10%, just so it doesn't chomp away too fast at anything. You're neutralising a hydroxide with it, so...

Ah, I see the issue thread :). If he does that what would be nice is to be able to return index#, dir?, filename (similar to the beebscsi direct file access method) and then you could generate a menu system that just worked from the directory structure on the usb.

Re: Anyone used jlpcb.com for fabricating PCBs?

Yes, frequently. Take about 2 weeks to arrive. Good quality! If you can make a panel of them which is bigger than 70x70 and smaller than 100x100 it will still only cost $2 for the panel (use the panel by jlc option) - you have to allow about 10mm for the edges... See here for an example: https://sta...

Re: Elk ADFS niggles, questions and thoughts.

Check whether it's producing interleaved images or not and try the opposite. If you're just creating 320kb adfs images it won't matter. Zysyshelp is there to stop writing to track 1 which could be buggy in the original elk adfs. It's placed on the disc by the electron format utility. You can use elk...

Re: Elk ADFS niggles, questions and thoughts.

Back in the day, I used T2P3 with a Plus 3 (ADFS) and moved most games onto disc. It worked pretty well for the most part, required no hacking, but things didn't load instantly (however MUCH faster than tape). The problem that you always have with ADFS is the amount of memory it uses - about 3kb. Th...

Re: Simultaneous internet & mass storage solutions for the A3010

Apparently something's happening about that. I'm not sure what though. It's contemporary in that it works on the raspberry pi with the latest ROOL releases...

Anyway, if you're wanting one for RO3.1-3.7 which is suitably retro, I'd look here: https://www.4corn.co.uk/articles/acornc5/ :)

Welcome :D - please do post up a thread about your SBC! People are doing all sorts with their beebs. Storage-wise, if you've got a disc interface in yours, I'd recommend getting a gotek floppy emulator and installing the flashfloppy firmware on it: https://github.com/keirf/FlashFloppy/wiki So far as...

Re: RISCPC 700: VRAM question, and other

I'm not sure what the best way to fix this would be - I don't think the part is available anymore (I had a look a few months ago, and couldn't find them). I suspect your best bet would be to get one from an old board that doesn't work anymore? Someone else might have an idea about how to effect a re...

Re: RISCPC 700: VRAM question, and other

Yes, it sounds like it's not recognising the vram - that also sounds like a 1MB module (are there empty places for ICs on the back of it?) To remove it, ease it directly upwards holding both ends firmly. I would check that the socket and vram module contacts are clean and aren't corroded.

Re: RISCPC 700: VRAM question, and other

It's reported in the RAM report when you turn on the machine. If you know how big the SIMMs you've got installed are, (e.g. 8mb etc), then the vram size will be added on and reported as a total. Rule of thumb is that if there are RAM chips on both sides of the vram module it's 2mb, and one side it's...

Hmm, displays OK for me on Chromium 70; it warns me "connection to this site is not fully secure", but displays the picture.
Version 70.0.3538.102 (Official Build) (64-bit) - Chrome != Chromium it would seem, in that mixed content appears to be blocked by default.

The metal head cover actually adds some weight to the head so it works properly. I think you need to get it refixed with some new foam (best one to use, I'm not sure) :?
