Re: New econet setup

ANFS and NFS expect the fileserver to be station 254 (unless you tell it otherwise). On the beeb it's hard-coded into the ROM (you can tell it to use a different other than the default), on the master you can set it in the cmos.

Re: My first (large) CPLD steps (XC9572)

It's fine interfacing with ttl, I think it barfs with cmos (which is why the internal vfs adaptor for the beebscsi needed a buffer to sort the levels out).

Good price! I have been really impressed with mine, it doesn't behave like the cheapo thing that it is.

Re: VideoNuLA boards

Just looking at that ic you list, it looks like it should work but you'll have to tap vsync and hsync from somewhere (the 6845?) as you only get csync at the rgb output.

Re: VideoNuLA boards

If you can get hold of a GBS8200 (dirt cheap), they take RGB in (via resistors in the cable to bring the TTL levels down) and will output pretty good quality vga to an LCD. Works well with the NuLA.

There is one socket you can use, but if you've already got RAMFS in there (as Lardo does), you're somewhat stuffed unless you start sacrificing sideways RAM...

Doesn't look like there's any jumper setting that'd cause that sort of misbehaviour...

The gotek uses USB by default, but it can use a very small one! (e.g. a Sandisk Ultrafit) :)

Thanks Daniel. I have a Retroclinic multi-os so reprogramming is a no go. I would happily ditch View though! I have a battery backed RAM cart which I could try. It made my Master crash last time I tried it though but it has had its firmware updated since. I don’t have a normal cart. I am hapy enoug...

Re: Elk disc controllers

Interesting idea, Daniel. My initial reaction is: I'd like to keep an external 34 way connector, for legacy drives, and add the HD disc option e.g. MartinB's scheme listed here - But yes that would be an excellent project - Oh! One more thing: It would have to fit into a Pegasus case  as I had...

Re: Elk disc controllers

@dave - I was just this moment pondering whether or not the redesigned ap3/4 could have a gotek integrated into it, alongside rotary-encoder and OLED display, and then having the option to swap the internal and connected drives... I'd imagine moving a few components to SMD would yield the necessary ...

Re: New econet setup

OK. If you put anfs in there you'll loose 2 banks of sideways ram. Do you have a rom cartridge you can stick it in? Or failing that, reprogram the multios chip - ditch viewsheet and stick in anfs (that's what I did). If you have a gotek, that's the easiest way of dealing with ADFS images? Or alterna...

Zarchos is banned from here so you won't be able to get in touch with him via this forum.

Mouser do the connectors:

Re: My first (large) CPLD steps (XC9572)

That's a 9572XL - they are 3.3V supply - 5V may well make them quite grumpy. The 9572 non-XL parts are OK with a 5V supply IIRC. The inputs will on all, however, tolerate 5V. Common arrangement is to rig up a LM1117MP-3.3 voltage regulator with 2x10uF tants - 1 on the 5V in and one on the 3.3V out. d.

There were all sorts of mini-podule cards. Which one do you mean? I'm guessing the IDE one? If so, check here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14970

If there's a top head with wires coming off it then they should absolutely be double sided...? Single sided drives just have a felt pad on top.

Re: A5000 but no display..."Out of Range"

If you've reset the cmos RAM it won't know it has a hard drive - press F12 to get a * prompt then type

Code: Select all

*configure idedisks 1
Press return again, and if there's an IDE drive in there you should see it appear!
