Xanadu Adventure hints and tips

Hi, I was playing the game (version 2t) with the help of the walkthrough and the bit about "Trapping" the dragon in the Magic Room....how did anyone work that out? Is that something borrowed from Colossal Cave?

Getting Started with Acornsoft Logo

I thought I would start looking at Acornsoft Logo, and write-up anything I find: All the Acornsoft Logo documentation is here I started with the example with SETDOT on page 27: TO CIRCLE MAKE "ANGLE 0 REPEAT 360 [PLOT MAKE "ANGLE ANGLE +1] END TO PLOT SETDOT LIST (100*SIN :ANGLE)(100*COS :ANGLE) END...

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

I just worked out the game is a bit boring and you can't do anything until you get the bag.

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

For the bears movement, I think there are two collisions mechanisms. The one that sometimes prevents you passing through monsters is because the game wont let you move in a direction where the screen just outside the extent of the sprite in that direction isn't the same colour as the background. I c...

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

Looking at how the game plays... the monsters are able to pass through each other unhindered but that is not the case with the Banjax character. I think that is the bit to target if I can make it so the monsters think Banjax is another monster that should work.

Re: Robico Banjax Cheat?

I found one problem.....if you get caught in a corner with one or more monsters it can prevent you from actually moving and you are stuck there forever...............as my niece and nephew found out! I suspect that would be more tricky to work round... I am not sure how the collision detection routi...

Re: Education Titles - Cambridge Micro Software - Gravity Pack

I took some screenshots for these titles and put them in their respective threads (Juggle, HideSeek, Word Hunt). On the whole I think the games must have been a little dissapointing.

Also I saw the author of Juggle Puzzle was Ian Stewart. I don't know if that is the same Ian Stewart that writes the popular maths books or not?

Re: Education Titles - Cambridge Micro Software - Gravity Pack

Just to clarify.... I don't have any of those titles. They looked interesting so I was trying to find out if anyone knew if they still existed/archived.

Theres an annoying site that has pictures of software titles but no links to the actual programs :(

Re: Islandia instructions required

The program is in BASIC and Machine Code. Also you have to be careful what you input as you can break the program if you enter incorrect values as there is no input validation. I had another go just now but it gets a bit boring as you have to buy a lot of stuff at the beginning before you understand...

I don't suppose you (or anyone else) has a copy of the little loader screen that was on the original tape (same sort of loader as Pengo), just for completists like myself.

Re: XFER 4.0 sync string

I found I had the same trouble with the 5.25 drives if I do:

*SAVE TEST 0+FFFF

I get the Sector error message. So maybe there is some other reason for the error. (Saving 64K to disc in one lump)
