Re: I2C 4 U
No worries Darren 8) While we're about it, this reminds me that the I2C rom isn't technically compatible with a 2P because, for the BASIC % integer variable parameter-passing, the rom directly accesses BASIC's variable storage area at $0400 so that wouldn't work with a second processor. This is actu...

Re: I2C 4 U
It's probably my fault, these things usually are.... Is that a Model B with a 2P? It looks as if my I2C rom is being initialised twice but I don't know why, possibly something to do with the 2P..... :-k Could you try it without the 2P on and if that doesn't help, without the RamFs (Datacentre?...

Re: Pascal Roms
Any 27128 devices should be fine to be honest, I'm still not sure what's gone awry with yours but somehow you've been unlucky, assuming it isn't yet down to a curious artefact of your programmer. Something like these reclaimed ones are always good value (note often a 12v/21v Vpp mix) - I can't see a...

Re: Pascal Roms
Then I’d say that one can only reasonably conclude that your roms are faulty (or at least sub-standard) since the zeroes image check isolates us from any Beeb-related influence.

Re: Pascal Roms
Have you ever used your programmer for ‘retro’ devices before? You say the settings are correct but apart from ‘Enable Beep’, I personally don’t recognise any... :) (I principally use a Dataman S4) Sometimes, older devices need more programming current than modern USB programmers can supply and I no...

Re: Pascal Roms
Erase an eprom to blank, i.e. 16k of FF's, and then try programming the attached 16k zeroes image. 16kzeroes.rom ( btw - 27128's are fine for a Beeb etc. and as long as the physical devices are as you say and do use a 12.5v Vpp then they should program. I have seen folk experience intermittent issue...

Re: Pascal Roms
Can you make an all-zeroes 16k image and see if you can blow that? EPROMs erase to $FF so at the blank stage, they can report as ‘good blanks’ but could actually have faulty stuck bits that cannot be driven to zero by programming. If this is the case, they are broken and cannot be used reliably.

Do you want to use a Beeb or just a Pi and Beeb Basic? If the former, search the I2C 4 U thread for ‘PWM’ and you’ll see what goodness can be achieved....

Re: I2C 4 U
As Mark suggests, very little hardware resource is required and nothing really that is 'I2C' bespoke as such. On the I/O, I think you [ Mark ] are perhaps mixing up I2C and UPURS because my I2C implementation requires both of the two lines (SDA & SCL) to be bi-directional input-output with both need...

Re: Wires? Pah.....
Thanks Stephen, I do remember now and tbh, I never did think it had much value because why on earth would you want simultaneous help info from every rom with it all just scrolling past...? So Ant, the reason UPURS doesn't respond to *HELP . is because UPURS thinks that command switch is silly...

Re: Wires? Pah.....
Hello and thank-you for the feedback, always appreciated! 8) When using a *HELP . command no output is produced by the UPURS v5.1R ROM. *HELP UPURS works as expected. What is *HELP . supposed to do? I must have forgotten over the decades! :-k If no active serial port is connected by a UPURS cable to...

Re: Interface robot arm with bbc b
Another neat way would be to get an I2C-based DC motor driver module and then control the motors using the Beeb I2C rom package There are lots of such modules available, the price tends to reflect the capabilities of the specific board - this is an example of a straightforward two-motor module.... 7...

Re: Pipeline - Superior 51/4" disc V my demo?
.....due to the disc image having &FA on some of the tracks / sectors :( As you well know, if UPURS can’t figure what to do with bum sectors and/or tracks when reading a source disc, it defaults to writing bytes of $FA to the image because, given I had to pick some value, I went with FA as an acron...

Re: 6502 Assembly on BBC B, what do I need?
If your Beeb has a 177x FDC and you're handy with a soldering iron, you can build a little two chip project which will allow you to use HD 3.5" floppies which are still abundant and freely available....

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics
That BASICED 'rom image' isn't a rom image - it looks like its the source code or something, possibly from github or somewhere? I can't tell how you've arrived at the file but it's just wrong! Have you selected the wrong file to download perhaps? For example here's the first few bytes..... <!DOCTYPE...

Re: Loading a ROM into SW Ram - basics
If you try both ssd's with the EELOAD utility that Ken Lowe recommended earlier in the thread (and I think you tried?), you will get a checksum after loading a given rom image and this will tell you definitively if there are differences between the alternatively sourced versions of the images.

Re: Master thinks a Joystick is plugged in and active
tricky was asking for the ADVAL(0)AND3 test because that returns the state of the fire buttons and your value of 1 means that the player one fire button is permanently indicating pressed which will indeed cause games to assume this has been intentionally selected by the user. If this is occurring w...
