Beebem Query

Y'ello all. Quick query about Beebem. Everytime I "break" out of a program, it doesn't always behave as it should - I often get a "bad channel" error, and the "machine" freezes. A CTRL+Break rectifies the problem, so it's no real issue, but I was just interested to know a) If anyone else has had the...

Dead simple.

Go to the "File" menu, select "Run Disk". Browse to your folder where the 'Elite.ssd" file is located, double-click it, and you should be away.

If you want any more info, ask away here, or drop me a mail (mjforbes <at> gmail <dot> com)

And, to continue the theme ... Just caught a bit of "The Tube" on Sky Something-or-other; in the Victoria Tube Station Manager's office, there's the usual collection of PCs and other stuff, but just visible on one of the racks behind him was none other than a CUB monitor. There was some blurb on the...

I wouldn't have a clue what to do with a soldering iron - I think I'd probably be safer with a ready made lead. If anyone could sell one to me I'd be very grateful. I bought all the bits to make one of these a few years ago, and it worked perfectly. If I can find it anywhere (moved house twice sinc...

I believe Jon managed to extract some raw teletext data from his PC-TV card and write it out to a file. The teletext emulation currently reads from these files. To be useful BeebEm will need talk direct to PC-TV cards to get its data. Mike Ah. That explains things! However, too much development on ...

Going offtopic .....

Plus my PC3 doesnt like HD >20gb for some reason (wont boot off), but likes the 40gb one as a Slave, weird  Certain BIOSes won't allow combinations of certain hard drives in certain combinations of master/slave. For something that's supposed to be 'standard', this is one of those things that'...

Interesting - I remember downloading Telesoft at school way, way back, which spurred on my query about the possibility of combining an emulator and a PCTV card (see thread "Beebem Crashing" in the 'Emulators' section). I found a load of Telesoftware disk images a month or so back, and having trawled...

Funny you should mention that. Check this out: http://www.mikebuk.dsl.pipex.com/beebem/ttx.zip Jon Welch has been working on teletext adapter emulation. Linking it in to PC-TV cards is the tricky bit though! Mike Looks interesting - however, short of using some additional hardware (such as a PC-TV ...

Seems to have done the trick ....

Hi Mike (and all) I think that "disable speech" trick has worked. Had about 45 minutes playing various games last night on my way home, and Beebem didn't crash once. I must admit that I wasn't even aware of the speech synthesis facility (or if I was, I'd forgotten over the years!), so what I never h...

I have seen BeebEm crash a couple of times when playing with the speech functionality. Try disabling speech on the sound menu to see if it helps. Mike Thanks Mike, I've disabled speech as you suggest, and will have a play around with Beebem again on the train home tonight and see if that makes any ...

Beebem v3.1 Crashing

Hi all, Since upgrading to the latest non-Beta of Beebem, I've found that it's been crashing for seemingly no reason. I've often had the "DirectX" errors that others have reported although Beebem itself would continue to run quite happily (this was often after resuming the system from standby or hib...

Re: Your Alan Partridge

I've had a quick look at 'Your Alan Partridge' and can't see anything resembling the screengrabs (however, there is a little music player so I can listen to the entertainer, or flight of the bumblebee, etc.) Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? I had that at first as well, however a 'reset' in...
