Re: Simple Rom Board

Hi. However, for the basic ROM board - you're right in that we shouldn't overcomplicate things. Maybe there's a call for both types of solution? I do think there is possibly a need for both, although at my current (how shall I put it, erm "state" of machines) , I would be happy with about 3 or so s...

Re: Simple Rom Board

Would it be worth making some PCB's possibly so people could assemble their own ?

Just a thought, but as its bare sockets (plus a couple of socketed chips) , it should not be too difficult for people to do...

:)

EDIT... Although having said that, I would certainly want at least 3 for my machines.

Re: Simple Rom Board

An extra four sockets would be enough for most people I think :D One B I need one more socket and another I need two more... So will keep an eye on this thread with interest :) Slightly off topic: I actually have one B that only has one useable (apart from OS and Basic) socket due to wear and tear a...

Re: Dr Who and mines of terror

I have no idea what version it is to be honest, its in my "spares" box the last time I checked.

From memory, it has a green label on it.

I might be able to transfer it (maybe plug it into my master and use the sideways ram to turn it into a file)

Re: SR Ram command confusion

All working (at least on my Master) I could not get the I switch to work however, but thats not a huge problem. It did work on BeebEm (BeebEm is using MOS 3.5 whereas my real masters are not) (but that was no real use as its my Eprom Burner ROM) Did not work on my B , then I (remembered) I had remov...

SR Ram command confusion

This is probably a really basic question (sorry)   But as I have never ever tried to use it before I needed to ask... How do I actually use sideways ram on both a Master and a 1770 equipped B (yes the B does have one 16K chip in the socket right next to the OS) I just wanted to tr...

FS confusion and JSW2 bug maybe

I have no idea if this should be in Games / Other software or Hardware (read on to see why, sorry for the longish post but I wanted to cover all the detail so you know what I am on about) :) It may effect other games and software too, but this is the one I noticed... JSW2 (the "full" disk version, n...

Re: Scart Audio Dilemma

Just a little bit of feedback... The LM324 route works well, thanks :D Although it would of worked first time if I had not connected it to the "other LM324" (the one near the cassette port) I think my thoughts at that moment were just in Spectrum mode , where audio / tape are shared (ish) port 254.....

Re: Scart Audio Dilemma

Using AutoTrax Schem editor eh? Heh :D , I just find it far far easier to scribble on a bit of paper for something like this just to explain what I intended (although a pic was probably not necessary, I thought I'd do a rough one just incase there was any confusion what I had in mind) Lose t...

Re: Simple Rom Board

I would have thought that a FLASH/SRAM solution would be more preferable too, as you don't need to physicallly "blow" the ROM in order to use it, just load up whatever image you like. Now that I like the sound of :D , as long as there is some kind of write protection as (please correct me here if n...

Re: Simple Rom Board

You have lost me a little bit Mark, as I'm not that up on hardware. I think having one flash chip (given the life of these is quite good now compared to things like very early USB key sticks) would maybe be the best option if compatibility is ok. Should ( ? ) be cheaper to do too I'd expect, ...

Scart Audio Dilemma

I recently brought a nice ready made RGB scart lead for one of my B's (the recently resurrected GoMMC machine) However the lead does not have any audio as expected. This is not a huge problem to add but I have two concerns. See my pic (quickly drawn on a bit of paper as its easier for me than paint ...

What was this (yellow blocks in a grid)

I very vaguely remember some educational program (game) I thought it was Flags, but I looked at that , and the one I looked at was just a "which country has this flag" type programs. The one I'm looking for (going from old memory here!) , usual black screen. Large white boxed area of squares (maybe ...

Thanks :D

Although, (not really had chance to check) , I think some of those missing rooms (according to that page) are present in the extended version (the 26310 version)

Will check this later in the week, very busy :( , no time for games at the moment :)

Re: Best solidstate storage

As a GoMMC owner, although I have not tested it properly, I think (again, not really tested) , although I could use it for ADFS hard drives images, I would like something to actually use for L3 storage. I am not sure if this would work as WFS-INIT may not be very happy about it... Don't get me wrong...

Re: Questions about JSW2 disk versions

I did a little bit more research as best as I could (which is not very)

I found that although this version is incompatible with a M128, it does however work on the Compact (I made an adfs image) or the M128 with the later, rarer ? MOS (the one with the built in ADFS Format)

Questions about JSW2 disk versions

Just a quick query :) I notice there are two disk images (cheat version aside) for JSW2. 16548 JetSetWilly2.zip (Tynesoft) 26310 JetSetWilly2-disk.zip (Tynesoft) One is larger (JetSetWilly2-disk.zip) than the other and appears to make use of SRAM. This version (after a quick go) is much better (more...

Xfer question

Not sure where to post this (sorry!) :D Anyway, I just wondered if someone could check something for me :) I tried to take a adfs image (small) from a M128 back to the PC via Xfer. I chose small as I wanted a small easy to transfer file for others. It constantly failed (at different points) with CRC...
