Re: Misc BBC/Electron Roms, for checking

So the Challenger 3 DD BIOS v1.01 + DDCPM v1.01.fdi is the one I was curious about... Is it any different to these ? At that link is also RdDDCPM and WrDDCPM which read and write DDCPM disk images. From looking at the strings in there, it looks the same, so what you have is Z80-CPM Challenger 1.00 ...

Re: High score lists: Old magazines, web

I mentioned having collected high scores from magazines already quite a while ago (though I miss some lists/scans from other magazines than those listed on my page below, that I am sure I made) and I saw again the 30M+ score for Zalaga, mentioned in TMU 1990. But others got to almost the same score...

It is interesting that they also show "Honest Joe" which *is* a real game... :-k Lee. hmm, I don't know that game, but, is that screen in the advert part of the game? If not then it's just a coincidence of names. If it is it could sti...

Lee.
No, see p. 5. However it's not a game, clearly it is a screen created with the 'telextext pack', the text of that is right beside the picture.

Moved up a bit more but still a tad short of your score Jools...... 288,900 Oh, this is being played on my Master, thought I would try it that way and I really like the control a person has. A person, as opposed to what control your cat has in the game? :) I don't see why you and others don't get s...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R9 - Bug Eyes

But this is all in the context of people selecting games for the High Score Challenge. For that purpose, it only matters how many people like the game enough that they'll enjoy competing. You hate the game, whereas I'd never even heard of it and still hadn't played it so am completely indifferent. ...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R9 - Bug Eyes

Perhaps we should all get to give lists of not just of games we want to play, but of games that we don't want to play and then that game won't get selected :) It doesn't harm you if people play a game you don't like. I mean, I've not played any of these games and I'm just fine! Really? I died sever...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R9 - Bug Eyes

This game seems to be a 'limited' type of game, too bad as it's quite good. Not every game is going to suit everybody.....yadda, yadda, something I've also commented on before so.... Certainly, if you don't wish to play this game, it's ok with people on here, but the more the merrier and if you do ...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R9 - Bug Eyes

See previous post ;) - the game goes blank screen and completely locks up, forcing a full reload of the game if you want to play it again. You need to be quick getting the screenshot. This might be one game where deliberately dying to gain points could be permitted - if you get to the last level an...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R8 - Pipemania

Again some stupid oversight meant an early end. In another game I got to level 28 and it would be a 300 k game if I did that again. Main problem is just silly mistakes. I went for 4x 50k bonus and did that on lvl 1,2,3,4. Score 251,550.

This may be my last try with this game.

Re: Beebug Magazine supplements/catalogues

Seems to be Electron scores, from the high scorers that I saw on the Elbug score list in the Beebug supplements, and Guardian is on that list which was released only for the Electron (though runs on the BBC), but, Zalaga is also on that list and that is a BBC only game... I don't know how you got t...

Re: High Scores

I checked the beebug march 1985 (the scans from 8bs) but saw no highscores in that. I found before your pictures, high-scores in the supplements (scans from 8bs) of oct. 1985 and nov. 1985 (not oct/nov 1984 as I mistakenly wrote in the text file), and then the supplements were at some point include...

A few more goes and downside of trying to get almost all squares is that if it fails you get not many points per level due all blocks subtracted. Got to 65,650.

Re: High Scores

I checked the 1986 supplements, but they are much thinner, and it looks like they'd stopped doing high score tables by that point. They are in the main magazine from some point in time in 1986. I found just 2 score lists, in Dec. 1986 and Mar. 1987. See my list here which includes the scores from y...

Re: High Score Challenge S8 - R7 - Bumble Bee

The controls for this type of game are 'ok' at best in my opinion. Most mistakes that I'm making aren't ones of strategy, they are ones of key presses but let's remember, this is the 80s we're talking about so what should we expect. For a game of this nature the keys work ok, otherwise the scores y...
