Re: Dutch TechSat on 6th of June.

Hi all,

I haven't been very active here for a couple of years, but I do live in the Netherlands. What is a TechSat meeting. Google's not my best friend on this...

Re: Which board to post about books, magazines, etc.

I actually learned sideways RAM programming and some other techniques from that book by Bruce Smith. It's well written and quite readable.

Re: BBC UHF frequency

Thanks! I managed to get somewhat of a signal at 578-580 MHz. With an emphasis on somewhat. The picture was very unstable and flickering like mad. It was the best I could get on my TV (a Philips LCD - I live in The Netherlands). What do you guys think? Is this caused by the inability of the TV or by...

Re: BBC UHF frequency

I've got a scart cable, but it doesn't work 100 per cent. (See the topic on an lcd tv.) Hence I want to try UHF.

BBC UHF frequency

Does anybody know what UHF frequency the BBC B uses for output of its TV signal? I am having trouble in tuning my TV to my BBC.

Thanks!

Looking for DFS 1.20 or 2.26

Hi all,

I have a model B and use John Kortink's GoSDC. This is a great piece of software/hardware, but unfortunately doesn't support DFS 0.9 which is in my machine.

It supports Acorn DFSs 1.20 and 2.26. Is there anyone who has a spare copy of one of these DFSs or who can burn one for me?

Thanks!

Beeb suddenly starting in MODE 1

My BBC B always used to boot up in MODE 7. However, now it suddenly boots up in (I think) MODE 1. Also when I press BREAK or CTRL-BREAK, MODE 1 is selected. I have had my Beeb open and may (very lightly) have touched something. Any idea what may cause this and how to restore startup to MODE 7? Thanks!

Re: LCD TVs and monitors for use with BBCs

I have one other BBC and it happens with that one too. (I use the same cable.) I do not have another TV to test it with. I tried UHF but couldn't get that to work. In the discussion above I read things about some TV's being more suitable than others. Unfortunately I am not much into tv signal format...

Re: LCD TVs and monitors for use with BBCs

I bought a VGA->Scart cable from eBay and to my big surprise it works! I use a Philips LCD TV. The only thing is that the display is often shifted to the left or the right (so that part of the picture is not shown) or that it actually moves slowly from the left to the right or the other way around. ...

Re: Keyboard issue

Thanks again guys. I fear I'll have to replace the keyswitch. Cleaning doesn't help.

Any ideas where these can be had? And how do I find out which type of keyboard I have? (Which types are there, anyway?)

Re: Keyboard issue

Thanks guys! I reflowed all connections and that has improved things. Now all keys work immediately after startup... with the exception of the K key. This key really seems dead. Mechanically it doesn't feel any different from the other keys, but it simply doesn't work. Any ideas on how this might be...

Keyboard issue

Hi all, My BBC model B has an issue with the keyboard. After power up about half of the keys doesn't work. When the machine has warmed up (after, say, 5 minutes) all keys work except for the K. I recall that this is a more often occurring issue. Is there anyone who has an idea what might cause this ...

Pictures in adventures using model-b?

Finally got it working! Thanks. Two questions:

- The entire screen is often rather shaky. Is this normal?
- The advice on *FX 255,15 (to speed up disk loading) doesn't seem to have any effect. Is this correct?

Cheers,
Mark.

Just to add: I've set the model-b .ini file to BBC B+ and switched on sideways RAM (6 banks as required).

The problem seems to be that Gnome Ranger and Scapeghost use two .ssd disks and I cannot get model-b to work with it.
