Pengwyn BBC side of tape

Its actually the Electron side of the tape that has extra stop bits. They are not similar to those normally made by an Electron though. The Electron game is on the side without the dummy screws.

The BBC and Electron versions are different. They possibly share the same loading screen program which identifies the computer it is on.

Pengwyn BBC side of tape

Pengwyn BBC has extra stop bits like I thought. They are spread differently to Electron saved files and sometimes theres only one byte between the extra bits. I haven't a clue what causes it but it is something getting the cpus time while saving. I don't know what causes it with the Electron either....

Its quite a long time since this topic was active. Some of the stangest protection I've seen includes a series of waves of a kind alternating with a series of the other kind. For instance LLLLLLLSSSSSLLLLLSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLSSSLLLLLL. L is long wave and S is a short wave. This is seen on Devils Causew...

I have the tape but like many Firebird tapes it is difficult to get a good recording. It has some non-standard blocks. Firebird tapes often have too much bass and badly shaped waves.

You should not need to distort the sound with the head screw. Some tapes are better with treble turned up and others need more bass. Every tape is different and the volume levels vary as well.

To make tapes easier to read run CSW.EXE V2.0 by Ramsoft from <a href=...

Electron saved files have occasional extra stop bits that the current Makeuef will not handle. When I looked at the UEFs on STH for the BBC and Electron they turned out to have different data. They must share a lot of the same data.
