Re: The slowest-loading tape games

I hadn't noticed that about Estra. Games that load over the screen memory obviously take more time. I think later games such as Bonecruncher did that.

Re: The slowest-loading tape games

I'm looking for an Oric tape with 2400 baud to have a look at. MSX also has 2400 baud. They are both quite similar to Acorn tapes.

The blocks could be longer as well as the gaps being shorter.

Mark.
I was meaning a PC joystick with a 15 pin plug that typically fits to a sound card.

How does the buttons work since the interface only supports two joysticks with 1 button each?

Disk to UEF

I'm not greatly into disks. Is there a utility that transfers a disk to UEF for the PC? I'm only expecting ordinary files to transfer. The UEF file would have a typical baud rate and carrier tone lengths of course.

Re: Missing Genres on the BBC Micro ...

Players was the only company that used parallax scrolling (TomCat) on the Electron. Electron User always gave them poor reviews although they made games with a style no other company made and probably appealed to younger players. Did they have something against games for multiple formats and being i...

The Acorn preservation site has accurate images. Firetrack hasn't been done though. I was going to add many FLAC files but Dave isn't doing much now.

Are those joysticks actually liked by anyone?

Is it possible to make an adaptor for PC analoque joysticks? I mean the 15 pin plug ones.

Have I misunderstood you? Is the WAV file a program to produce the 19200 baud rate?

Re: Atom tapes

I can't see any difference to a 1200 baud file. Is it recorded straight from a BBC? The waves are very regular and it easily converts to CSW with a baud rate of about 1201.

Re: Fave loading pic?

I would prefer the Image Converter to save to GIF since BMP doesn't have a 2 colour format. Version 87a probably works with many programs whereas newer versions will have trouble. I don't think BMP saves to less than 256. Its not allowed on this forum either. I've redone my conversion to 320x240 to ...

I can't see the bug now with Defender and BeebEm. Maybe it was fixed? B-Em doesn't even begin to load a tape now and removes itself after a minute.

Re: Fave loading pic?

I presume its possible to convert an image to the BBC palette with some standard graphics programs. I'm not sure if I needed to use Paint Shop Pro now. Modern programs don't usually work the same with low res. images so it has its uses.

Re: Fave loading pic?

I think the first Barbarian picture came out the best. I thought that was the original image. I find PSP3 useful for low resolution images. It has an annoying problem in that it can't access any drives other than the one its installed in. I might try PSP4. Here is a 2 colour Spectrum loading screen ...

Re: Fave loading pic?

You've used dithering with the art picture and not the photo. Thats the opposite of what usually works. When I've tried converting loading screens I usually only want dithering on a part of the picture or none at all. I often change the colours in a loading screen before bringing it into Image Conve...

The delivery charge is a lot for 1 item.

Does anyone know if the PRES plus 1 is noticeable different? Maybe they simply took the stock from Acorn.

Its unlikely to be the edge connector because it did work briefly then went faulty. I suppose I could check the logic on all the 74s with a voltmeter?
