Just belled the connections on RP16, 1 and 2 are open circuit to the VIDC,
I’ll have to get out the magnifying glass and set of steady hands .

Re: RiscPC video output failure
Thanks guys, it’s all getting a wee bit clearer, I’ll bell out the connections tomorrow. Here is what I have just now. 80F06079-B2C4-4CC5-AFDD-CF230ACD107D.jpeg 39D7B532-DD70-4A6A-BE5C-22E55D443A6C.jpeg I thought I had got away with just the CMOS/RTC, but looks like there is more to find yet. Dave

Re: RiscPC video output failure
Hurrah! All credit to sirbod for the "high resistance" suggestion -- that's exactly what it was. Vcd<4> from RP16 to VIDC was 800K. A wire-strap later and the machine's alive and kicking and all well again. Amazing. ... with DRAM. But VRAM still has the weird lines issue. :( Hi there, I’m...

Success at last ...... Turned out to be a connection in the ribbon cable connector. Although it all rang out ok, the spring part inside the connector was pushed into its housing and not making contact with the ribbon 🎀.....I won’t be caught out by that old chestnut again.... Thanks Ian for yo...

Re: A3000 single key not working
I managed to wrangle the over flexible ribbon cable and rung out the two shift keys successfully.
So looks like I have more ringing out to do, or it may be IC4 or IC5 if I’m lucky.
Right Shift turned out to be 7 on Skt 6 and 8 on Skt 7.

Re: A3000 single key not working
Thanks Ian,
The salmon colour on the right shift key on skt.6 was throwing me off a bit....
I’ll test it out after dinner, but it looks like if the right shift is working, then the left should be too, so it looks like a track on the membrane.

Re: A3000 single key not working
Hi there, thanks for your response,
I found this link this morning it tells me it’s Pin 13 on skt6.....but what other connection do I need to test continuity, and see the membrane working or not.
Without a legend, I’m not sure what the colours mean.
Thanks Dave

Hi Soviet,
Nice job, do you have a drawing of the connections between the alt keyboard and smallymouse. ?
I was thinking of trying the same upgrade.
Thanks

Hi Folks, I’ve just installed an IDE to Compact Flash interface and formatted as IDEFS via a wizzo rom. I have been loading it up slowly via the floppy drive and gotek. Well my new A5000 arrived, I have stripped it down and thoroughly cleaned out 30 years of fluff, cleaned the keyboard. I have now repaired the leaky battery damage, two tracks were eaten up. I’ve installed a gotek I had left from another project. I received the bits for my CF card adapter, and after...

A5000 mouse replacement
Hi folks,
I’ve recently acquired an A5000, the mouse supplied is pretty much useless, very sticky, I’ve given it a good clean etc but to no avail.
The only option I can see is to buy a £30 adapter.
Are there any other option open to me as £30 seems a bit steep.
Thanks
Dave

Re: A5000 hard drive replacement
Thanks philpem,
I give it a try, my A5000 arrives today between 17:00 and 21:00, but the battery looks in a bad way, the photos are not clear but I’m sure I can see some fur on it, so I’m,looking out the vinegar and cotton buds.
Thanks

Yes I noticed the blank spaces, I’m just glad there is something on the other side.
There was a blurred picture of a screen showing the supervisor prompt and I thought it looked more like a 4 ....
Might be a project finding out if I can populate it.
Thanks

Re: A5000 hard drive replacement
Hi
Thanks everyone, lots of food for thought.
I’ve sourced the parts but will wait till the A5000 arrives.
I can also get a 20 gig ide hard drive for £10 as another option if all else fails.
More fun to be had.
Thanks
Dave

Hi, It hasn’t arrived yet, but I believe there is no additional software with it. I take it you mean an 40 pin ide Drive...can you recommend a size and type. Where can I get the interface for the CF cards, do they work as if they were ide drives.? Are they expensive... Sorry for the stupid questions...
