My Acorn Atoms

These Acorn Atoms were given to me by my father. I haven't cleaned or tested them yet. It's been a long time since I used an Atom. What can you tell me about my Atoms? What should I know/do before cleaning and testing them? Let's start with the normal looking Atom (the worst is yet to come): WhatsAp...

Re: The well known Bad Apple demo on the Acorn Electron

4 to 5 KB/s should be fast enough. And this is the (max) speed I measure on DFS and MMFS. I don't know anything about Gotek. I would like to test on some more configurations and also experiment with (more) data compression to maybe get it all down to one double sided floppy disk.

Re: The well known Bad Apple demo on the Acorn Electron

Thank you! Yes, it streams from floppy disk. Two double sided disks to be exact. Which translates to 4 single sided disks on MMFS (SD-card). I can't test on real floppy disks at the moment. And it seems MMFS is actually slightly slower than DFS. I am using the ElkSD64 by Ramtop.

This venue is larger than at the other ABug events, so there are normally only full tables.
A full table is fine too of course, as long as I don't take much needed space from someone else

Re: ABUG SOUTH 24 to 26 January 2020 (Hampshire) BOOKING THREAD

Newbie to ABUG here. From The Netherlands as some of you may know. I've just booked a double room at the venue for my wife and myself for the whole weekend. We plan on going by ferry with our own car so we can move around freely. I will take some gear but not too much. I guess half a table would be ...

The well known Bad Apple demo on the Acorn Electron

This has been my project for a while now. I proudly present version 0.1 of my Bad Apple demo for the Acorn Electron. With a proper intro and outro. And some proper music by Simon M (original BBC tune by Inverse Phase).

I have 2.5 Atoms. I need to clean them up and test them. They belonged to my father who gave them to me. One of them is a FrankenAtom with a floppy drive and floppy controller mounted on top of it!

The very best Beeb tunes?

SimonM has been doing an amazing job in converting the Bad Apple chiptune (by Inverse Phase) to the Acorn Electron, for use in my version of this well known demo. As you know not many great tunes exist on the Electron. Until now that is! :?: What are (in your humble opinion) the very best Beeb tunes...

Re: MMFS Bad sum?

Thanks Dave. It's my own code that this is happening with. But not very often and I can't reproduce the Bad sum error even on consecutive runs of my program. Will have to investigate further. I thought maybe there could be other causes triggering this error.

MMFS Bad sum?

Sometimes I get the Bad sum error on MMFS 1.41. Not every time and not always at the same place. What are the main causes of this? Using Ramtop hardware on Electron btw

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

Based on that, it looks like I did enable interrupts in OSWORD 7F in MMFS 1.37: https://github.com/hoglet67/MMFS/commit/1442abe4de8a7798bc81da397be5b2b93df84d13 Do you have a view as to whether it is right or wrong to do this? Well, I don't have a strong opinion either way but it certainly took me ...

Re: OSWORD &7F on DFS vs MMFS

My interrupt handler wasn't saving the Y register, only A and X because I didn't use Y in a previous version of the code  Apparently DFS didn't care about that but MMFS does. I have a follow up question for you though: does MMFS enable interrupts (CLI) regardless of the fact that they were dis...
