Sync issue with Master + Panasonic Viera TV

Hi all Getting to know my lovely new (old) Master. I'm trying to connect it to a (ridiculously large) Panasonic Viera TV. I bought the TV on Ebay (for a tenner!) because it has lots of input options, including SCART RGB. However when connected to my BBC Master via a proper, decent DIN -> SCART cable...

They've replied and assured me that there are no school parties booked that day :-) Looking forward even more to my visit now!

Re: Finding my old school equipment (Sheffield)

There’s probably still the odd school using 1980s kit here and there - a controller tucked away for some obscure piece of lab equipment or woodworking tool... makes you wonder how many BBCs are still out in the world being used for a function they were originally purchased for (not counting all thos...

it might be worth giving them a call to check if they have any large parties in on that day, just to manage your own expectations.
Thanks - have emailed them to check I won’t be engulfed by swarms of schoolchildren!

Centre for Computing History, Cambridge

I’m thinking of visiting this museum on Wednesday 11th, to look in particular at the Acorn stuff (of course!)

Has anyone else been, if so any recommendations for exhibits that I really mustn’t miss?

Electron cartridge in Master?

Sorry if this has been discussed, and answered elsewhere. I did a search and found a topic which seems to suggest that Master cartridges would work in an Elk, but is the reverse true...? So if I obtained a copy of, say, Electron Starship Command on cartridge, could I plug it into my Master 128, and ...

Re: Floppy Days Podcast coming on the BBC Micro - Need HELP

Hi Randy, New fan of the podcast - enjoyed the Steve Furber interview, and then from that watched the MicroMen 10th anniversary films on YouTube - fascinating! I can’t claim to be any sort of technical expert or historical guru on the BBC micros, however I was a child of the 80s, played on the ZX81,...

I did this for a number of Acorn related items and posted the pictures on my Flickr account. Look on the bright side - you have three of the most recently printed, most up-to-date (sort of) Master manuals in the world! =D>

So $$RARE$$
You're right! Watch for them appearing on the LOLPrice thread very soon, starting price £250 each maybe?

6 pin DIN to SCART cable

Hi all, before I delve back into eBay, does anyone have a spare one of these for sale? To connect a Master to a TV.

Failing that, is there a recommended supplier?

Thanks

Today, I have been ... stupid

So I am very excited about getting a Master in the near future. Wanted to do a bit of advance reading, and found the Master Welcome, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 guides as PDFs. Looked on eBay, they're about £15 each. Wondered if it'd be cheaper to get them printed and bound locally. Enquired, and the ...

Re: 21st Century BBC Micro?

Thanks all for the replies - clearly a lot of knowledge and expertise out there (I can’t claim either!) I’d certainly be willing to pay about £200 for a “modern” take on a BBC - especially if it was able to emulate all the various different BBC versions. Beyond that I have no idea how a project like...

Wanted: BBC Master

Just a few short months ago I bought and then in fairly short order sold off a load of BBC kit. At the time, several people suggested I might regret my decision, and to hold onto my haul. And you know what - they were right! My nostalgia for the glory days of the 1980s computing scene hasn’t gone aw...

21st Century BBC Micro?

Hi all, There seems to be an ever increasing appetite for retro computing - just take a look at the numerous channels on YouTube, where people repair old hardware and restore it to pristine condition. I’m also seeing a trend for producing brand new hardware versions of retro computers, like the C64,...
