Re: The C64

Sounds like a good remake! Are the loading times reasonable? Can you give Wasteland a go please? I see what you are getting at now. Loading times are not an issue. You mentioned SD2IEC, which I believe uses the disk drive serial port on an original C64 so is effectively as slow as an original 1541 ...

A brand new C64... 'The C64' to be exact :-) Snap. This is a GOOD year! :D Can you post some thoughts / mini-review of The C64 please? Curious as to how good it is, especially around game / disc image compatibility. Thanks! Seems to be a good recreation of the Commodore 64. It has 64 games built in...

Acornsoft Firebug cassette for Electron.

That's the 31st title in my Acornsoft software collection. One step closer to the full Acornsoft software catalogue for the Electron :-)

...Primes Plus 3 RAM/ROM Board (well technically not today, a few days ago...) Thanks to Dave H for supplying the kit which I have built and installed and thanks to prime for designing it :-) Not only do I have ADFS at &E00, but a 128k Electron to boot (when I plug Dave's ABR in). That's impressive ...

Re: Electron Cumana Utilities disc

Yeah, was just working on my Slogger Electron Disk Interface, replacing the battery in that too whilst I had the soldering iron on the go, and realised that it is identical to the Cumana one. I would prefer to preserver the Cumana in it's original configuration rather than replace it's ROM with a Sl...

Re: Electron Cumana Utilities disc

Was the Cumana util disk ever found? I got hold of one of these interfaces recently with the original Cumana manual and have just repaired it (it was damaged due to corroded battery). Seems to be working OK but according to the manual you need a utility disk to set the clock. The clock currently rea...

Re: High Score Challenge S11 - R8 - Road Runner

I've found a bug, hoping someone else can confirm, I managed to get over 100k but the score resets to 0 #-o The high score table doesn't honor the higher score so it appears to be a lower score, how could they miss that in testing [-X So here is my score but I would assume someone else will need to...

Must remember NOT to press escape when I get mad to crash out of the level when I make a mistake, because it clears the great high score that you had just made on the previous game!!! #-o

Still think this is a really hard game.

Might have to clean the contacts on the old BBC analogue joysticks as it doesn't help when the cursor jumps about.

Anyhow, new high score, 18910

Re: High Score Challenge S11 - R5 - Missile Base

I agree, I think that's one reason the rule was made. If a Beeb game has joystick ability, we should try to ensure we're using equipment that was created bitd for the game, it just makes sense. I think you're right, if you don't have a joystick, you are at a disadvantage though I think in an emulat...

Spotted another bug, not sure exactly sure how it happened but I had a monster that was white all the time. Have you any other way of getting SSDs to your Electron (i.e. not the slogger) I suspect that there is a clash somewhere with that? In the meantime here's another version - this time it won't play a tune but hopefully should show the scroller and a whole bunch of 0's - this to rule out an address c...

Hi Lee,

Not sure what is causing this problem. To rule out my scroller and text routines please could you try this version with no graphics, just the tune.
I have given that a try and still get the same behaviour. Each song plays for a few seconds then freezes.

Thanks

Re: BeebSID

Things to check: External speakers Like DanielJ says hook up external amplifer of some sort (and test on beeb if you can) Good call. I thought the sound would output through the internal speaker like it does on the Beeb. Plugged the output socket into a phono preamp and then into my PC and hey pres...
