If you have 4MB RAM, use ADFFS to mount the floppy images.

Download officially released games from JASPP as well, of which Nebulus is one JASPP own the rights too.
Only got 2 MB RAM unfortunately but thanks.

Re: Difficulties extracting zip / adf files to DOM

Thanks Ian. All I want to do is download games and play them, but it's proving a bit difficult. Not being knowledgeable on this platform doesn't really help :?

I'm willing to give it a go - but finding a step-by-step process is near impossible.

Re: Difficulties extracting zip / adf files to DOM

Hi Ian, I downloaded Nebulus and Paradroid2000 (attached) from http://acorn.revivalteam.de/?site=Downloads I am using a DS/DD floppy I had from my Commodore computers formatted as DOS 720K on the A3000. Your link to BeebArc is the one I used. Additional info: When I copy the game.adf file from the &...

Difficulties extracting zip / adf files to DOM

I'm having no end of difficulties trying to get software on to my A3000 (with IDE). Just a reminder that I'm new to Acorn stuff so explain stuff in simple terms please. I've downloaded some games from the internet in zip format. I copied them to a floppy disk on a PC and transferred them to the A300...

Copying files from PC to IDE DOM - advice needed.

I've recently bought an IDE card from IanS with an included DOM. Can anyone advise me of the easiest way of copying downloaded files from my Linux PC to the DOM? Is it as easy as mounting the DOM on the PC and copying the files across? What sort of files formats are supported and are there any onlin...

Exactly what I was looking for for my damaged keyboard. Pity it wasn't more hard-wearing but I guess it's better than a partially working keyboard. Thanks for this.

Re: For Sale: IDE Podules again

It looks like the only thing left is one 8-bit IDE V2 x 5 @ £20 each

If this is suitable for the A3000, I'll take one + DOM

Re: IDE podules - 8 and 16 bit versions

@IanS thank you for the explanation. So the 8 bit fits internally to an A3000 but has half the data rate of an (external) 16 bit one - is this a correct interpretation? Say I later bought an A3010, would I be able to use the A3000 unit in that? Finally, is there a noticeable difference in the 2 data...

Re: Fixed: A3000 black screen on power on

In my first post I said "I am 95% sure I've found all PCB damage and repaired it". Well this was almost accurate. More like 70% sure. I repaired some more tracks on the keyboard circuit and that allowed me to press DEL while booting. That sorted the rolling screen and booted into RISC OS. ...

Re: IDE podules - 8 and 16 bit versions

I would be interested in whichever is most suitable for an A3000. As a newcomer to the whole Acorn scene, I don't understand the difference (benefits) between an 8 / 16 bit version (hardware-wise). Also what is a DOM? Sorry for the numpty questions but anything that allows mass storage on an A3000, ...

Re: A3000 black screen on power on

Thanks again guys. I'll look into that later I guess. Trying to get the display working first which (I think) means getting the keyboard working.

Is the 8051AH readily available in case it is faulty, or are they hens teeth?

Re: A3000 black screen on power on

Thanks IanS I put my good ROMs into the faulty computer and I get some kind of a rolling display but it isn't sync'ed. It looks like a black screen with white writing (using composite). I think it might need booting holding Delete but the keyboard doesn't seem to be working properly. The power led c...

Re: A3000 black screen on power on

What type of EPROMs do I need to use when replacing the 4 ROMs? Will 1megabit (27C010) do ? I want to dump my good ROMs and burn replacements. I moved the suspect ROMs from my known good A3000 into the other computer. That now fails to boot just like the other. I don't want to put the good ROMs into...

Re: A3000 black screen on power on

I have a working A3000 but I'm reluctant to use anything from it unless I can easily replace it. Regarding the ROMs, can I dump them using an EPROM reader and burn them to a blank EPROM? If so, I would try them in the faulty A3000.

Re: A3000 black screen on power on

After finding 2 broken traces on the address lines of the ROMs I am getting a blank "grey" screen. As I'm using composite it's a monochrome picture. I need to try to make up a proper lead to get a colour picture. I'll continue tomorrow evening maybe.

Fixed: A3000 black screen on power on

Hi all, I am almost finished repairing an A3000 after some very severe battery leakage. I am 95% sure I've found all PCB damage and repaired it but I believe the RTC /CMOS chip is not working. I can measure 32.768kHz from the oscillator but nothing coming out of the PCF8583. I've ordered some from e...

This is a long shot... Is there a source for the A3000 keyboard connectors? I'm repairing battery damage and there is quite a lot of greenish / bluish deposits in the connectors. One pin has broken off in the lower connector. I have no idea what to search for online. I tried CPC and Farnell but I ke...

Re: Just bought A3000 and have some questions

Thanks very much for your replies. I might have managed to source an original mouse and monitor lead. @flaxcottage I'd love an Acorn monitor but I've already got too many CRT monitors in my attic (3 x Commodore and 1 x Philips). I might need a low frequency LCD to fit on my desk. Any particular mode...

Just bought A3000 and have some questions

Hello all, I've just bought an A3000 and am awaiting delivery. I have no idea if it has been bitten by the leaking battery bug but I'll have to wait and see. I know very little about these computers but have always wanted to own one. That naturally means I have loads of questions. First is about the...
