Re: Elk games that allow joystick use?
I came across this reference to Slogger Expansion ROM (v2.02) which has a utility to map a joystick to key presses. https://www.retro-kit.co.uk/page.cfm/content/Acorn-Plus-1-Expansion/ . I also checked the Plus 1 ROM available on mdfs http://mdfs.net/Software/BBC/SROM/Plus1/ , but unfortunately this...

Re: Elk games that allow joystick use?
From what I remember, there were very few games that had built in support for joysticks. I had been given a joystick for a birthday and was disappointed with the game support. I eventually got a program for Electron User magazine which allowed you to map keys to joystick controls. I don’t know if th...

Re: Second 'Virtual ABug', Saturday 11th April, 9am - 5pm
I’m definitely interested to attend these virtual abugs after seeing the list of sessions from the previous event. I don’t have something to present, but really interested to watch and listen. (And living in Greece it’s a bit difficult to attend a physical event). Any possibility to record these ses...

Beeb with “protect RAM”
Came across this Beeb on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/283842044946.
It has a button for “Access Protect RAM”. Is this a form of sideways RAM?
It also has two other switches for RAM and FDC controller.

I use RGB to Scart and the picture quality is good. If your TV doesn’t have a Scart socket you’ll need a Scart to HDMI converter. There are various available and others From stardot can suggestion which work.

Re: Electron Elite disk image.
There is a solution for the Plus 3 to have page at &E00, so I'll use this as an assumption. I have been looking at Elite versions I have from www.acornelectron.co.uk e.g. ADFS (Page &1D00), DFS and UEF (also available on https://www.stairwaytohell.com/ ). It looks to me that both the ADFS an...

That's about right. It was galactic hyperspace. In the original Acornsoft release this was broken, and fixed in the Superior release. :D As a young lad I spent hours trying to hyperspace out of Galaxy one. Back then I had no idea that it was a bug! I had noticed that back then having the Aco...

Your probably right according to this http://8bs.com/submit/subelite.htm A version for the Acorn Electron, this is the simplest form of Elite. It has the reduced ship selection, and no suns so the fuel scoop is only useful for collecting cargo. The screen is monochrome, including the console, and gr...

Does anyone have a disk version of Elite for the Electron which allows saving and loading of commanders to and from disk?
I have versions of Elite disk images for adfs and dfs, but only load or save commanders from and to tape.

Re: How can I save my Elite game on a Turbo MMC card?
A couple of items to consider here:- 1) Is the version of Elite the disk version, or the tape version transferred to disk? If it is the tape version m(unmodified) you'll not be able to save to disk. I have this problem with Elite for the Electron. Would be nice to have a version to save games to dis...

I've done this upgrade and have the following arrangement of ROMs and RAM:-
DFS version 2.26 (if you don't have it I wopiuld recommend you get it) IC62
BASIC and OS IC71
Sideways RAM IC57
And I always get 128k on power on and crtl+break

The cable I have that doesn’t work, doesn’t have pin 8 wired also. Reading I’m not sure it’s actually needed. It appears to have two functions, one to switch the tv to look at the RGB signal AUX\AV, and the other, the picture aspect dependent on the voltage level. It also depends what is available o...
