Re: Looking to buy BBC Model B
I don't understand as well. I rediscovered by first home computer clearing my parents house (ZX81), then wanted again an Electron, then added another Electron with MRB and finally ended up buying a B+ on sale on this forum for a reasonable price , eBay prices can get quite high. Reading all this tal...

Re: Mode 7 at 3C00 on the B+
Oh dear - that message is just checking what type of machine it is running on, not whether this mode 7 trick actually works. Could you try in again, please but instead of doing shift-break do: > LOAD "M7-3C00" > 3 > RUN i.e. delete the machine-type test so the program attempts to put Mode...

Re: Gotek case
The cases you did were probably a bit more of a tricky shape, not sure if that adds to cost. Might be as much as twice as much volume for a Gotek, but even if that double/trebled the price to £30, would still be considerably cheaper than £110. When you see these prices: 3D printed https://www.ebay....

Re: Gotek case
I would be interested in a couple of cases if a run was to go ahead. Either 3D printed or metal at a reasonable price.
Another wish would be for a retro styled cheese wegde case (e.g. 2nd processor) for raspberry pi zero.

I would guess it’s either the ULA or memory. Take a look at this topic viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19887
for the ULA.

Re: Teething troubles with 'new-to-me' Elk
A picture of the screen output would help and knowing which motherboard issue (e.g. a picture of the inside of the Elk).
Try a minimum setup first e.g. only the Elk. If this works one by one add the additional hardware to see what happens.

This is from memory, but it’s quite a while since I’ve used it. Roughly you need to:- Configure the jumpers on the device. Probably nothing to do for you as it’s already configured Insert your SD card, turn on the Elk Configure your choice of filing system(s) e.g. Elk DFS and ADFS Prepare the SD car...

Re: Electron enhanced versions?
It’s a shame that there were never versions of Elite that made use of SWRAM, like there were for the BBC micro. I think Electrons were sold near there end with MRB (Master ram board) fitted as standard providing much more memory for programs, but I don’t know if any software specifically written to ...

Re: Faulty Acorn Electron
I would expect it’s a ULA issue. If it’s a pre-issue 6, pressing gently down on it might fix it. The alternative is removing the ULA and cleaning the pins with IPA. If you search a bit on this forum there are step-by-step instructions. I had a similar issue with my issue 4 Elk and gently pressing th...

I did start looking at the code of ElectrEM that is available to look at porting it to C# for the hell of it and up dating it for Windows some years ago. Re: TURBO MMC or GOTEK ?
I’ve tried GoSDC, Turbo MMFS (the Electron version from Ramtop), BeebSCSI (Hard disk on a SD card) and Gotek. They all work well. My personal choice is Gotek as it really is just a drop in replacement floppy drive, most software is distributed as disk images and you just copy them onto a USB drive, ...

Re: Electron ELITE Cheat
Electrem has paste but it is buggy. It only works for a few pastes. For Electron development I use BeebEm to paste text from PSPad, save the program to disk, and then load the program into Elkulator from the same disk. I find ElectrEM a bit buggy. ElectrEM hasn’t been updated for a number of years a...

I’d recommend a RGB to Scart cable and use with a tv. You can pick one on eBay easily. If you have a monitor or tv with only hdmi, there are some recommended converters, or a project here in the forums to convert RGB to hdmi using a Raspberry Pi. https://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t...
