Re: Gotek Problems on My Electron

I don’t know how familiar you are with using a Gotek drive, but you have to select\load the disc image on the Gotek before you use the Electron disc commands. You’ll need to press the load\eject button. BTW, please check which file system you are using either DFS or ADFS. You’ll need the right disc ...

ADFS PRES with SCSI code - BeebSCSI

I saw this information today about ADFS for the Electron:

Code: Select all

ADFS 1.0x is for the Electron
ADFS 1.1x is PRES ADFS for the Electron with SCSI hard drive
http://mdfs.net/System/ROMs/Filing/Disk/Acorn/ADFS.txt

Does PRES ADFS 1.1x work with BeebSCSI and are there any advantages over Acorn ADFS 1.0?

Re: Acorn Plus 1, Plus 3 with Gotek

The P.R.E.S./ACP ROM does NOT keep page at E00 and the SCSI code HAS been removed - Boo, Hiss  . You'll need the specific E00 version that loads from disc and it will require 2 banks of RAM. As an aside, JGH has looked at the code for this and thinks it could be modified to work within 1 bank ...

Slightly off-topic, but @Dave - does 1.15 still have the SCSI code?

d.
I believe not, but I think it has page at E00.

Re: Disc or Disk. Silly-Season debate.

Difficult one. Much prefer disc instead of disk. Everyone, but everyone in Greece uses the “American” spelling for IT\computer terminology unfortunately. If I’m proof reading English documents I do get pleasure changing the spelling to British English. I justify it that we are in Europe. On another ...

I got my Elk for my birthday at the end of October 83. My father drove all the way from Lowestoft to Bury St Edmunds to get it. Unfortunately I sold it when bought my first PC around 90\91.

One of my favourite Sci-fi childhood tv series. Watched every episode. Always very disappointed with the ending, but it did leave an opening for another series sometime in the future. B7, Baker Dr Who, sapphire and steel, the tomorrow people etc... What a great period.

Looked at the manual and I didn't see something for RGB selection per source. Might be worth trying some of the things suggest in this page https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/tro ... art-cables.

Yep, just saw that in the second file\program of the UEF "Nightworld". If you remove this it loads happily with Plus 1. Why did they do this?

And how to change the UEF?

Re: BBC micro RGB to scart problems (help/ suggestions)

Maybe if you tell us the make\model of tv we can check the manual (if available online) how to enable RGB on the Scart socket. I think on Samsung TV there is a RGB selection item on the settings menu. It's good pointer for me to check now as I want to buy a new TV\monitor for my Acorn machines and d...

I can confirm that Alligata - Electron NightWorld UEF does not work with the Plus 1 enabled. I checked this using ElectrEM and Elkulator. The loader crashes at line 32: 32 NEXT:COLOUR2:CLS:*LO."World 2" Good news is a DFS version of the game works from www.acronelectron.co.uk UEF Nightworld.zip DFS ...

this is pointless as all games are on SSD anyways  there is only about 4 games that need a E00 dfs, If think it’s more than four games. When I compare the number of dfs disks with ADFS disks from acornelectron.co.uk there’s quite a difference. If you have a GoSDC configured only for DFS i.e. ...

Re: MMFS Query

The only problem with UPURS is the need for a pc from which to send the files. An ideal solution would be a raspberry pi with some additional commands to list the files on the pi and initiate the transfer. Nice idea that. Could make that into some sort of datacentre for the Electron supporting both...

I’m guessing you are an Electron owner. If you are worried about finding software on disk I would recommend you visit http://www.acornelectron.co.uk/ and consider buying the DVD. It has a huge collection of software in UEF (tapes), SSD\DSD (DFS file system) and ADF (ADFS file system).

Re: Cheap SD/MMC Readers

If you have a disk interface fitted already, you'll find the gotek to be the most "compatible" solution as so far as the beeb's concerned it's a normal floppy disk drive. I agree. More money (as a prebuild kit) but pretty much heading to be the defacto standard as a cross-retro-platform type device...
