Modified Plus 1 - eBay item

This Acorn Electron and Plus 1 item on eBay https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303327993923 has a modified Plus 1. There’s a switch to the right of the cartridge slots and an additional port above the printer port. I’m guessing the additional port is a u...

Re: Please run a little test on your Electron

With AP5, AP6, Plus 1, BeebSCSI, Pegasus 400 it works just fine. If I add the Raspberry PI 2nd Processor with the standard 6502 it doesn't work. For MMFS MicroSD Mk1 from Ramtop, I'll need to find a Micro SD card small enough (no bigger than 8gb). I had one I was using, but I've put it somewhere saf...

Re: Please run a little test on your Electron

Any other testers with an Electron and a minute to spare? Especially looking for test results on an issue 2 Electron, or any Electron with some hardware add-ons. Can additonally test with hardware extensions: AP5, AP6, Plus 1, BeebSCSI, Pegasus 400 and Raspberry PI 2nd Processor all plugged in toge...

Re: Which Gotek for a Plus 3?

I’d visit Mark at RetroClinic. He can provide you with a ready Gotek. Either email him or visit his eBay shop.

If you want to add the Gotek as a second drive you’ll need an adaptor which you can pickup from Dave H. He also has some other upgrades for the Plus 3 like ADFS with PAGE at E00.

Re: Just bought a Plus 3 and problems

Thanks guys. Just dug out my ropey 20 year old laptop. Have successfully copied the welcome disk to a floppy and it runs on the electron. One question though, if I press the break key the screen clears and I get Acorn Electron but the ADFS part is missing. Then I cant use the disk drive unless I ki...

Re: Just bought a Plus 3 and problems

Gotek is the best way to go. Dave H on this forum has an adaptor to add a Gotek as a second drive and has a version of ADFS with PAGE at E00 (useful for games that need more memory) which plugs into the Plus 3.

Tested it on my Issue 6 with MRB, plus1, AP6 and Pegasus 400+Gotek. In normal mode, momentarily data on the screen at the bottom and then red grid lines. Turbo mode, momentarily data on the screen at the bottom and then red grid lines with flickering and corruption. Shadow+Turbo mode blank screen on...

To get hold of ADFS disc images for the Electron you can either go to Stairwaytohell https://www.stairwaytohell.com/electron/adfs/homepage.html . Or Acorn Electron World http://www.acornelectron.co.uk/c-dvd.html and either order the DVD, or better, the USB massive collection of software and document...

I’m 99% certain that it doesn’t work with SCSI - But I’ll double check tomorrow for you.

The advantages, for disc drive operation is the ‘bug’ fix and some on-board utilities.

Re: Gotek Problems on My Electron

I don’t know how familiar you are with using a Gotek drive, but you have to select\load the disc image on the Gotek before you use the Electron disc commands. You’ll need to press the load\eject button. BTW, please check which file system you are using either DFS or ADFS. You’ll need the right disc ...

ADFS PRES with SCSI code - BeebSCSI

I saw this information today about ADFS for the Electron:

Code: Select all

ADFS 1.0x is for the Electron
ADFS 1.1x is PRES ADFS for the Electron with SCSI hard drive
http://mdfs.net/System/ROMs/Filing/Disk/Acorn/ADFS.txt

Does PRES ADFS 1.1x work with BeebSCSI and are there any advantages over Acorn ADFS 1.0?

Re: Acorn Plus 1, Plus 3 with Gotek

The P.R.E.S./ACP ROM does NOT keep page at E00 and the SCSI code HAS been removed - Boo, Hiss  . You'll need the specific E00 version that loads from disc and it will require 2 banks of RAM. As an aside, JGH has looked at the code for this and thinks it could be modified to work within 1 bank ...

Difficult one. Much prefer disc instead of disk. Everyone, but everyone in Greece uses the “American” spelling for IT\computer terminology unfortunately. If I’m proof reading English documents I do get pleasure changing the spelling to British English. I justify it that we are in Europe. On another ...
